Since January 2025 both companies discussed and planned to get the upcoming Zotac Gaming ZONE AI (refresh) ported to Linux. Since March 2025 we started to write needed kernel drivers for the upcoming ZONE. Currently we are porting the Zotac One Launcher to Linux. In this post we update you on the development status in a reverse order and which features we already managed to get working.

Redefine gaming innovation in the palm of your hand. With open-source software, the possibilities for updates and customization are endless, ensuring you get the most out of your hardware.

How does Manjaro work on the Zotac Gaming ZONE?

Well, it will be the first ALPM-free version of Manjaro with focus on flatpaks to add additional software. As desktop environment we have chosen Plasma 6. Having an immutable OS is needed for this product. Also user don’t have to track dependencies and other issues you may have with a rolling release model. You can simply update your system via the Zotac ONE Launcher and install additional packages via Discover from the desktop mode. We will provide several update channels for you to choose from. This way you can even help us to find bugs before the stable channel gets the updates. Also Zotac ONE Launcher gets updates as needed to ensure best user experience.

Which extra packages are used?

We use a special patched version of gamescope, Mainline Kernel driver to support the integrated controls like dials, gamepad, touchpad and macro buttons. The updated Gaming Edition of Manjaro will launch in our first run setup wizard to get accounts and Wifi established. This way it is easy for the user to setup the device. Within the Zotac ONE launcher the user can add their games from store-fronts like Steam, GOG and Epic.

What functions worked already on the prototype?

On the Zotac Gaming ZONE AI initially only basic gamepad features and the touchpads worked, after xpad driver got patched. Via gamescope swipe gestures got implemented, which open QAM and the Steam Menu, even in-game. SD-Card reader/writer, Web-Cam, USB-C ports, Power button and Audio control worked out of the box.

Which functions we had to work on?

  • Fingerprint reader support
  • TDP control
  • RGB control
  • Dials control support
  • enhanced fan curve control support
  • enhanced controller support to be able to switch mode

What is still been worked on?

  • add missing functions to Zotac One Overlay
  • work on the Zotac One Launcher port to Linux

Which technology is used for the Zotac ONE Launcher on Linux?

We use Slint and Rust.

Do you work with partners on this one?

We work closely with AMD, Zotac and their hardware vendors regarding kernel drivers and hardware optimization and will connect with Valve in a later state of the project.

Is the device easy to repair and to expand?

The device is designed to be easily repaired. Expanding the storage should be easy for most people.

When can I expect the final product?

Currently the aim is to release the final product in Q3 2025. We keep you all updated via social media channels and this thread.

Can I change the SSD myself?

Yes, since we support regular M2 2280 NVMe disk from 512 GB up to 4 TB changing those will be easy.

Which markets you expect to sell?

We aim to sell it globally online and in selected retail stores depending on region.
