System hangs up at least once a day

I switched to Manjaro distro 6 months ago because I heard a lot of praises and I wanted to give it a try.

But it gives me a lot of grievances.
Most frequent problem is system UI freezes. I can use mouse pointer to move
and select/activate windows of already opened programs and open new programs.
But nothing beside that.
Keyboard input (terminal) is dead.

Second problem is sometimes my videos (YouTube) stops playing. I thought network was the issue, but I checked network and worked OK.
But then when I tried to play a video from my laptop. Media player (Celluloid) opened but also failed to play video. IDK if it is something with CODEC.

This sounds good, though sadly you didn’t join the forum at that time… The forum was a great part of what made Manjaro usable for me when I migrated from Linux Mint some time ago (maybe 8 years, I forget).

This is not usual, have you the same symptoms with 1. a new USER and/or 2. A clean config (e.g. mv .config .configBORKED then log out and in again).

  1. Ok, so starting over - work through Aragorn’s post.
  2. Make sure you have snapshots and backups enabled
  3. Consider spending some time fixing, but also consider a completely fresh start once you start to get some insight into why this isn’t working for you so well.
  4. Make sure you have a freshly created/updated Ventoy disk with a recent ISO image. I would suggest keeping one Cinnamon (assuming it’s your top choice) but also consider adding XFCE, Plasma, Gnome.

As a Plasma user, I haven’t experienced your issues - though I am assured that XFCE is the top dog in terms of stability.
