Fresh install stuck in boot

Seasoned user, various distros.

Machine: Lenovo Thinkbook G6 21KK, Ryzen 7, integrated Radeon graphics.

Manjaro 25.0, checksum verified

Secure boot disabled (BIOS doesn’t offer legacy mode as far as I can tell so UEFI).

Opted for LUKS with passphrase. Ran with the partitions scheme the installer suggested, provided luks passphrase, seperate user and root password, rebooted, stuck:

Did not see grub, couldn’t edit splash options, system asked for crypto passphrase (and then took a jolly 25 seconds to open the slot btw, bit long innit?), then I get infinite three dots rolling under the lenovo logo. End of story. Waited several minutes twice, no go.

Suggestions?

depends on your hardware

Grub runs the decryption in/on only one thread.

For everything else:
system info required

inxi -zv8 in particular

Forum posting rules should explain it.

We don’t know anything about your system.
Not hardware
Not software (Desktop environment, for example)

We only know what you tell us …

your forum wont allow me to post ixi -zv8 complaining about links even after I edited the mirrors out.

its a ryzen 7530u with standard amd chips and it all works in live and I ran with 25.0 which by default is plasma, which I’d say is pretty obvious if I don’t state otherwise.

if you want inxi -zv8 fix your forum

It will if you add three backticks ``` (or three tildes ~~~) on lines above and below your pasted output; or, highlight the pasted Terminal output and click the </> button at the top of the Reply window. This will also format it according to Forum guidelines. :wink:

Edited to add: There is no “fault” to fix with the Forum; the ability to post Live Links is restricted for members who haven’t been here and posted for a little while. It’s intended to prevent less-than-savoury characters, so to speak, from posting spam (or worse) and it has the unfortunate side-effect of impacting genuine people.

Tip:

As a new member, you may want to subscribe to notifications for the Announcements > Stable Updates category. Every bundled update, whether it’s for Manjaro Testing or Manjaro Stable, always comes accompanied by a dedicated announcement thread.

  • The first post of the thread contains the changes with regard to the previous bundled update.

  • The second post of the thread details the potential problems, and how to deal with them.

  • The announcement thread also always contains a poll (in the first post), and a summary of past issues (in the second post), for those who’ve skipped an update — which is not advised with a rolling-release distribution, but it does happen. :wink:

Also, coming in with an attitude is generally not appreciated around here. We’re all adults, not teenagers in a schoolyard.

Just saying… :man_shrugging:

The following is true of all Discourse based forum software:

Any code or command (including inxi) output should be posted as pre-formatted text. This can be done from the Compose window in either of two ways:

1. By placing the text directly between two rows of three backtick (grave accent) characters, as illustrated here:

```
Command output would be pasted here.
```
which produces a (scrollable) pre-formatted text container, like this:

Command output would be pasted here.

2. Very short lengths of text best pre-formatted for presentation can simply be typed inline between two backticks `like this` <=> like this.

Note that provided the backtick characters are properly positioned (according to forum guidelines) then any warnings in the Compose window concerning links can be safely ignored.

Further to this, you may discover that you are likewise prevented from posting live links (initially) – this can also be worked around by posting the full URL between backtick characters, as previously mentioned;

Example: https://forum.manjaro.com – This allows forum users to easily copy/paste a link, if they wish.

Manjaro is made available in three distinct official editions as the Manjaro Download page clearly indicates:

  • Manjaro KDE Plasma
  • Manjaro XFCE
  • Manjaro Gnome

Packages relating to each edition are released to official repositories in unison (at the same time) – thus, without you specifically stating so (indicating which edition you use), your argument is severely flawed, wouldn’t you say?

A reminder that forum users are not required to provide assistance, and most do so out of a genuine spirit of altruism, reflecting the welcoming nature of open-source communities.

Welcome to the Manjaro community

As a new or infrequent forum user, please take some time to familiarise yourself with forum requirements, and the many ways to use the forum to your benefit.

Note: By virtue of using the Manjaro forum you acknowledge and agree to follow Rules and Guidelines outlined; so, you really should read them:

It is important to provide as much actionable information as possible in your first post, rather than simply indicating there is a problem. Please also be prepared to provide output from commands if/when asked.

Simply waiting for others to ask you questions is counter-productive – typically, nobody has a :crystal_ball: at their disposal – and your clear, concise and accurate input is often relied upon in order to help you.

Please help others to make informed suggestions based on information you provide.

System Information

While information from *-fetch type apps might be fine for someone wishing to buy your computer, for Support purposes it’s better to ask your system directly; :eyes:

Output of the inxi command (with appropriate parameters, and formatted according to forum guidelines) will generate information useful for those wishing to help:

Suggested inxi command (use either):

inxi -zv8 (short-form)
inxi --filter --verbosity=8 (long-form)
inxi man pages (manual)
Running `inxi` within a `chroot` environment
  • Add --color=0 to the long-form command, or…
  • Change the short-form command to inxi -zv8c0
