WiFi is delayed in KDE

Hey! I’ve been having issues with my WiFi connection on Manjaro for the past few weeks. It takes a long time to load pages and it looks like it’s been using data in bit sized pieces (not computer bits). Like if a song is playing it’ll load a bit then stop, then it’ll suddenly play and it keeps happening. I’ve been also having issues with page loading time. I don’t see any issues while installing packages through the terminal. Can it be an issue with my applications? Because I’ve tried Chromium, Brave, Firefox and the problem persists. My kernel is 516 right now. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @bhargavdabear,

It seems that maybe, perhaps there is some kind of caching and/or buffering issue, somewhere. Although, I, personally don’t know what would cause such an issue. To help anyone trying to assist you in finding the problem, please see [HowTo] Provide System Information, [HowTo] post screenshots and links, and [HowTo] Increase your chances of solving your issue.

Also, please provide the output for:

ping -c 8 8.8.8.8

And

ping -c 8 google.com

And

ip a

And

ifconfig

And

traceroute manjaro.org

In particular, see about providing terminal output. I.e.: wrap the text in three backticks, please. Like this:

This will just cause it to be rendered like this:

Instead of like this:

I apologize for the mistake. I edited it.

the three ticks are making the whole reply a terminal output.

It’s fine as is, thanks!

Upon investigations, it would seem this driver is kind of problematic. Or whateveryouwannacall it.

Install the uppdated one, it’s in the AUR:

So it can be installed using:

pamac build r8168-dkms

Hey! It worked! Thank you so much but can you tell me what might have caused the issue because if I remember correctly I actually had 8169 driver installed when the problem started and then I installed 8168 too but the problem was still there. I recently uninstalled the driver to test something but completely forgot about it.

Quite possibly it wasn’t the *-dkms version, or something so it didn’t survive kernel changes. Or something. I don’t know. :man_shrugging:

I’m just glad it works now!

Ah I see, Yep I did try changing kernels to try and fix the issue. Anyways thank you for the help! Have a good day/night!

Changing the kernels might have led to it.

Thank you!

Just because DNS was mentioned … heres this:
