Issues with starting Live USB Manjaro on HP Omen 16 (16-u0190nd)

Hi everyone,
I’m newbie on this forum and sorry don’t know how to properly address the issue on the forum.
I recently bought a new laptop HP Omen 16 (16-u0190nd).
And now I’m trying to launch first the Live USB and then the installation of Manjaro (manjaro-cinnamon-23.0.1-230921-linux65.iso) on this laptop.
Unfortunately, I faiced with following issue, Manjaro Linux does not always start from Live USB.
There is no question of launching with proprietary drivers, so I tried to launch with opensource drivers.
But even in this case, Manjaro sometimes starts and sometimes it doesn’t, and unfortunately I don’t quite understand how to influence this situation.

For some reason I can attach screenshots to the post :frowning:
But Live USB starts freeze on:

Failed to Start User Login Manager

That is because we don’t want screenshots - only text.

Failed to start Login Manager is usually caused by GPU drivers.

Please search the forum for other mentions of your device - possibly it is because you choose an old community ISO - try one of the official ISO dated 241223 with Linux 6.6. kernel.

I know it is the one available with Cinnamon - but it is a community edition and not updated very often.

Hi @jury.borisov, and welcome!

In order for us, or anyone for that matter, to be able to provide assistance, more information is necessary. To that end, please see:

Please also note and heed: Forum Rules - Manjaro

Hope you manage!

:bangbang: Tip: :bangbang:

To provide terminal output, copy the text you wish to share, and paste it here, surrounded by three (3) backticks, a.k.a grave accents. Like this:

```
pasted text
```

Or three (3) tilde signs, like this:

~~~
pasted text
~~~

This will just cause it to be rendered like this:

Portaest sed
elementum
cursus nisl nisi
hendrerit ac quis
sit
adipiscing
tortor sit leo commodo.

Instead of like this:

Portaest sed elementum cursus nisl nisi hendrerit ac quis sit adipiscing tortor sit leo commodo.

Alternatively, paste the text you wish to format as terminal output, select all pasted text, and click the </> button on the taskbar. This will indent the whole pasted section with one TAB, causing it to render the same way as described above.

Thereby improving legibility and making it much easier for those trying to be of assistance.

:bangbang::bangbang: Additionally

If your language isn’t English, please prepend any and all terminal commands with LC_ALL=C. For example:

LC_ALL=C bluetoothctl

This will just cause the terminal output to be in English, making it easier to understand and debug.

Please and do this:

I was looking for a mention of my device, but it looks like I’m the first one to come up with this issue.

Could you please share link to download?

You can use Manjaro Downloads or an automation tool

Thanks for provided links

I tried the following iso images:

manjaro-gnome-23.1.1-231223-linux66.iso
manjaro-kde-23.1.1-231223-linux66.iso
manjaro-xfce-23.1.1-231223-linux66.iso

And all with approximately the same result.

When starting from a USB flash drive, the launch of Manjaro freezes in the same place.

I tried several flash drives and ways to write an iso image to a flash drive (rufus and ventoy) but result is the same.

I also tried turning off the video card in settings of UEFI and using only discrete video adapter but result is the same.

I don’t know - I only use hardware where I am sure it is working with Linux.

Most systems is designed to work with windows and may require tweaking to work with LInux - which is why I do some research before bying hardware.

Thanks for reply,
Maybe I need to make some changes in boot options?

There’s no way to know without knowing more about the errors.

But this might help some:

Possibly - have you tried a search engine?
