System(plasma) crashes/freezes after upgrading from version 5 to 6

After last recent stable update (which includes updgrading plasma from version 5 to 6), I get a frozen screen recently too much. I’m not sure if it is related to plasma or not!
It happens randomly and causes my display to freeze, also touchpad and keyboard doesn’t work at all and I should hard shutdown system by pressing power button for 7 seconds.
I tried to gather journalctl logs for one of those crashes/freezes. I’m not sure it is related or not but here is the logs for 10 minutes before freezing screen until it get frozen. I’ll provide older logs too if it can helps.

You coming 1 month to late for the plasma6 party :upside_down_face:

How to upgrade the right way for this big update, maybe this helps:

Yeah I was late, It was actually intentional in hope to make sure other people receives problems and finds solutions for them! Because I was afraid of this big update (especially when it changes plasma version).

I didn’t have any issue for doing update because I followed the official instructions.

I don’t know if my problem is same as linked issue, I think I have two Graphcs (intel and AMD), right? Do you think switching to Intel fixes the problem?

I hope you aware that Manjaro is a Rolling Release Distro and if you skip additional updates, which you did… its possible you run in a regression because you waited to long.

I personal (luckily) didn’t experiences this regression’s, but i would guess, since you not updated your system for 3 full month, its possible that you have to reinstall your system right now. (But let’s hope this is not the case for you.)

So you disabled your widget’s and switched to default theme’s and stuff like that? But you have freezes/crashes right now, so there must be something wrong…

i have no clue about dual GPU system’s, all what i know that you maybe need a special GPU driver for this situation or you have to disable one GPU, its up to you.

But you can always switch between Wayland and X11 at the login screen at the bottom left… to see, which one runs better for you.

Switching between Kernels could help also, there is also LTS 6.6 Kernel or 6.9 Kernel available.

You may want to remove old orphan’s from KDE5 with:

sudo pacman -Ru kf5

If you have AUR Enabled, its also worth it to look in foreign to uninstall converted no longer supported Official Repositions Packages to AUR Packages.

I’m aware of that and I think it’s not a problem because from last update there is no new last stable update, So I was not too far behind.

When we are using linux, there is always a way to fix problems  Reinstalling OS is almost related to windows. There have been 5 years I’m using my Manjaro OS without need to reinstall it, I had such errors sometimes but I can solve them always by help from community (and people like you).

Yes! I completely switched to default settings before update.

I agree, I’m planning to give Wayland a try and see if it faces same problem too or not.

I’ll do this and still wait here for help from others too.
Thank you!
I’ll post here if there was any update, solution or more details.

I think this problem is not related to plasma or KDE and it is an internal problem with manjaro maybe.
In order to get logs from plasmashell, I ran following command:

$plasmashell --replace

This command replace your plasma and you are able to see logs from plasma in terminal.
When problem occurred again, there was no log or error in output of plasma in terminal.
Besides this, when system crashes, my keyboard doesn’t work anymore too (activing CapsLock fails) and this give me more hint that this problem is not related to plasma or it least is not limited to plasma.
