Stuck on /dev/sda1 clean, files, blocks

After a system hang and reboot, manjaro does not load further /dev/sda1 clean files blocks. I tried different solutions on the forums, but I realized that each solution is different and I can’t find a clear answer. Live system on a flash drive and Windows on the second disk are loaded, ctrl+alt+f2 works too but Manjaro is not. I installed the system not long ago and since then it has worked stably. Please write what information to provide you because I am a noob.

Hi @Maks48, and welcome!

In order for us, or anyone for that matter, to be able to provide assistance, more information is necessary. To that end, please see:

Hope you manage!

:bangbang: Tip: :bangbang:

To provide terminal output, copy the text you wish to share, and paste it here, surrounded by three (3) backticks, a.k.a grave accents. Like this:

```
pasted text
```

This will just cause it to be rendered like this:

Portaest sed
elementum
cursus nisl nisi
hendrerit ac quis
sit
adipiscing
tortor sit leo commodo.

Instead of like this:

Portaest sed elementum cursus nisl nisi hendrerit ac quis sit adipiscing tortor sit leo commodo.

Alternatively, paste the text you wish to format as terminal output, select all pasted text, and click the </> button on the taskbar. This will indent the whole pasted section with one TAB, causing it to render the same way as described above.

Thereby improving legibility and making it much easier for those trying to be of assistance.

Note:

You should be able to get all that info from a live ISO environment.

All that said, AFAIK that message is purely informational, I also have it. If the system really doesn’t boot, the best would be to try and get logs, so we can see what’s happening. To get logs from an unbootable system, you need a chroot environment.

Edit:

And if you need guidance to enter a chroot environment, please reply here. My mind reading abilities are acting up, so that’s the only way I’ll, or anyone else, will know.

:point_up_2: :point_down:

yes i would really appreciate it if you could send a guide on how to enter into a chroot environment

To enter a chroot environment

  1. Ensure you’ve got a relatively new ISO or at least one with a still supported LTS kernel.

  2. Write/copy/dd the ISO to a USB thumb drive.

  3. When done, boot with the above mentioned USB thumb drive into the live environment.

  4. Once booted, open a terminal and enter the following command to enter the chroot environment:

manjaro-chroot -a

If you have more than one Linux installation, select the correct one to use from the list provided.

If sucessfully done, you should now be in the chroot environment.

But, be careful, as you’re now in an actual root environment oon your computer, so any changes you make will persist after a restart and can cause damage.

From there, acquire the logs to inspect and provide them here:

journalctl --boot=-1 --priority=3

Where:

  • There --boot= parameter instructs journalctl to provide the logs from the previous boot (-1.) Adjust this to when you last experienced this. (-2, -3 and so on and so forth.)
  • The --priority= parameter will limit the output so that only errors and warnings are shown. If this isn’t helpful, we’ll broaden the scope.
