Start problems, I can't go from the start screen (resolved)

After putting my password and press Enter, the message that always appears from the file system appears on the left, in my case XFS, before the desk appears, but instead of appearing the desktop I return to the home screen of session and I have to oppose the password again and this is an endless loop. If you start the system in terminal mode and run Startx, I receive this message:

Thanks for answering, I can’t show you the output of inxi, because I can only boot by pressing e in the grub menu and adding init=/bin/bash and I can’t copy anything on the screen because there is no mouse and the output of inxi is very long.

I was trying to get the number block to be enabled when I’m on the home screen and for that I’ve done this script in /etc/rc.local:

#!/bin/bash

enable number block

numlockx on

continue with the next script

exit 0

And then I have given it execution permissions with:

sudo chmod +x /etc/rc.local

And when I restart my system, what I explained at the beginning of my post happens.
I immediately deleted the script, but that did not solve the problem.

  • Can you switch to a console with [ctrl + alt +F4] ?
  • Can you login (there) using your username and password ?
  • Or can you only login as root ?

(May be your login is rejected,

  • because the system thinks this is not the correct password, or
  • because the system thinks you have tried to often
    )
    As root you can give your user a new password that may work

Did you run startx as root ? (don´t !)

If I understand you properly, you want the number pad enabled on the login screen? You need to edit the etc/sddm.conf, so at the very top section should look something like this:

  • If I can log in to the console with my username and password.

  • If I can log in to the console as root.

As I have Wayland installed, it has given me to see what happened if I entered with Wayland instead of xorg. And entered. But since wayland is not fully optimized yet, I would like to fix xorg.

I have fixed the problem by reinstalling mesa and xorg.
