There should not be, if you heed the advice from those introductory posts. It is not uncommon that people skip an update (even though they shouldn’t).
That’s the answer I was looking for, thanks.
What would be a case that might require additional steps?
Anything that may require additional steps should be mentioned in the first 2 posts of update announcement
Updated to Nvidia 570, and suspend is broken - black screen on resume.
That company shoud be boycotted. Their drivers have been broken on RTX 40x0 laptop GPUs for over a year now, and they haven’t fixed them still. I’m so done with nvidia.
What would be a case that might require additional steps?
A dozen / a year of missed updates, with potentially a dozen or more manual interventions. It could happen that some interventions require other or conflict each other, so the order of steps should be considered. Which is the moment in which one should consider a clean reinstall as a quicker recovery solution.
Seems you did not quite understand: updates are not incremental. You will always see the latest version of the packets. And when testing (if they do which is sometimes questionable), the manjaro developers assume update from the previous version, and not from an year old one. And the solutions in the announcements are written with that in mind.

Hi guys,
after the latest update I have trouble playing videos through web browsers. The playback is stopped at the very beginning. I think, this is related to audio issues, not with the web browsers themselves.
On the Arch forums people recommend installing pipewire-pulse
OR removing pipewire
altogether. I tried installing pipewire-pulse
, but this would remove pulseaudio
and manjaro-pulse
. How do I go from here?
@photon see manjaro-pipewire

Hello, the update went smoothly, but with kernel 6.12.19 the function keys to decrease/increase the brightness of my laptop’s built-in display don’t work. The other function keys work correctly. This issue doesn’t occur with kernel 6.8.83.
No errors are evident in the journal or the Xorg log.

2 posts were split to a new topic: I broke my machine during an update
Well, after first cloning my SSD, I upgraded Manjaro. No issues!
Annnnd, I was surprised that I can now adjust the brightness on BOTH monitors with a mouse! Formerly, that only worked on my HDMI monitor.
But now, it also works on my VGA monitor, an HP L1906. Nice!
A post was split to a new topic: Get rid of infinite three dots
Good Morning all with greetings from Sunny Berlin Germany,
The update seemed to go well; almost everything is as it should.
Sleep hibernation oder hibernate mode no longer works on my notebook, nor here on my PC.
I also notice sporadic flickering or flashing, for example, when minimizing browser windows or other opend windows like Dolphin. You can see where the windows overlap, and the other minimized window has a kind of shadow that flickers.
I could explain it better than writing it down here.
Then there’s the fact that Manjaro no longer remembers some the settings.
For example, when I restart, it forgets that I set my desktop background image to slideshow.
Instead, the standard Manjaro background image always appears.
That’s nice, too, but not as nice as my own background images
Also, when I restart, it often (not always) forgets to mount the other internal hard drive (NVMe), which contains my OneDrive files and other with my own photos for the background images.
How and what information do you need?
Because it affects both the PC and the notebook.
Thank you, have a nice weekend.
Greetings, Tony
AudioTube seems to be broken. It selects a track, but when clicking on play nothing happens (no music, no UI change).

If PulseAudio has no audio playback after PipeWire update, unload module-suspend-on-idle
pactl unload module module-suspend-on-idle
If that works create a custom default.pa configuration for PulseAudio in home folder
cp /etc/pulse/default.pa ~/.config/pulse/default.pa
and comment out module-suspend-on-idle in custom configuration
sed -i '/load-module module-suspend-on-idle/s/^/#/' ~/.config/pulse/default.pa
