[Stable Update] 2021-06-14 - Kernels, Browsers, Mesa, Deepin, Systemd, Gnome Apps 40.2, Pipewire, Haskell

I don’t know, tbh.
In many cases, they will probably be similar, but I’m pretty much a noob when it comes to this - I’m just assuming that using the original package is guaranteed to work in case of any adaptions done by the Manjaro team.

same for me.

The majority is coming from Arch indeed. There are also packages which are built by Manjaro though.

There are more or less 3 types of those:

  1. Manjaro specific apps (developed by Manjaro)
  2. Packages adopted from the AUR
  3. Packges that are also available from the Arch repositories, but built by Manjaro (e.g. for including custom code/patches)

Most of them you can find on gitlab.manjaro.org.

You can identify them by checking the “Packager” info from an ALPM package:

pacman -Si *package-name* |grep Packager

So I’m having intermittent issues after this update… not able to put a finger on it as journalctl really isn’t helping a lot…

And main problem is new intermittent freezes, hardlock with no response on numlock key or trying to enter tty2-3-4-5. Also manifests with new crashing in games, screen freezes for game but ALT-tab works albeit no mouse which I can recover from by killing steam application in cli. Game uses proton via steam, and only crashes under given scenes with hud alerts. (played 100+ hours on dying light on this rig and this just started recently after update)

thirdly I get a 20-30 second freeze (but recover) when entering Display settings (Gamma, Compositor etc) in System Settings. Journalctl posts this when it timeouts (hostname: snip’ed):

It’s not a dealbreaker, but I’d rather have the manjaro I have gotten to rely on as a daily driver back to full health.

Edit: typo on gamma.
Edit2: further explaining game crash, no hard freeze, recovering by killing application

Cannot use mmex (moneymanagerex) since this update upgraded it from 1.3.6-1 to 1.5.2-1. i get this message;

I’m fairly new to Manjaro and am loving it but I have no idea how to resolve this kind of error. Help, please.

It seems a known problem:

camposFabio
The memory problem returned. It appears something intermittent. There should be some leak somewhere. I’will try to debugg the code to find more info.
I rolled back do 1.3.6 and the problem is over.

Trying to update after I missed the previous update and I get:

:: Starting full system upgrade...
:: Replace lib32-libcanberra-pulse with multilib/lib32-libcanberra? [Y/n]
:: Replace libcanberra-pulse with extra/libcanberra? [Y/n]

:: installing libcanberra (0.30+2+gc0620e4-4) breaks dependency 'libcanberra=0.30+2+gc0620e4-3' required by libcanberra-gstreamer

Do I need to uninstall something before the update, and then install it later? If so, how?

There is information about this in the announcement:

Can you read the “Known issues and solutions” section at the beginning of this announcement, please?
It is there for that specific reason…

I immediately decided to use the search, and there was ZERO results (!?), so I didn’t bother to read the thread.

Sorry.

Ok, no problem. :ok_man:
But with a rolling release, the first thing to do before doing an update is to read the update announcement. You will avoid trouble and various problems. :wink:

Thanks for the info. Good to know it’s not me. How can I roll back to 1.3.6 please?

Sound died after update found this solution and found it strange that the problem is still there since it looks like a problem with the previous update.
I’m using cinnamon on the graphics are ‘skippy’, when typing or any other movement occurs nothing happens for a fraction of a second and then a bit bursts out, what can that be?

Seems like Gnome 40 is coming :thinking:

I have not posted here something for a long time. Just this: I am feeling fine even without all the latest Gnome stuff because stability is much more appreciated. At least for me. Thanks!
