Screen won't unlock after auto lock since last update

Hi Im having a similar issue and once i got back in noticed a coredeumped message in the journal from plasma shell:

I was trying to use Linux66 for when this happen to see if it was more stable but nope. I tried removing the chache as previously mentioned.

Using Nvidia graphics on the latest drivers 570.x
Tripple screens.
I should also mention the logg is in reverse order.

I can also mentions that i noticed issues while booting. I would get to the black manjaro screen with 3 dots. Resolution would update and then be stuck there with the tree dots moving. Had to hard reset my PC.

Minor update.
Locked again but now running on Linux612. Once i woke the screens it took more time than usual but the password prompt came back and could log in successfully.

Would still be interested if someone know anything.

I’m still running on linux612 (didn’t switch to linux66) and issue exist.
Did I understand correctly, that switching between kernel versions linux66 and back to linux612 fix this problem?

As for now it seems im no longer able to boot at all in 612. Im not sure if the first point in the grub splash screen boots the last selected image or if it default to latest. If it’s the first i was likely still on 66.

So another update, i did some more digging. Im not able to boot at all with Linux612.
I tried to reinstall the Nvidia drivers to reset my xorg conf file. which now looks like this:

When i get to this point i see the black manjaro splash screen and the dots are moving and the screen has updated resolution. In this state I’m not able to switch over to a separate tty. The only solution is to push the power button and get back to grub.
I’m kind of out of ideas at this point. Anyone knows a way forward for further troubleshooting?

So now we have at least 3 person with the same problem…
As a temporary solution I switch off locking by inactivity and keep locking manually. In this case I’m able to login after lock.

Perhaps this gives a clue. I’d say it has to do with X, at last in your case. According to https://askubuntu.com/a/372582

For good measure, delete the ~/.Xauthority file:

rm ~/.Xauthority

See if you can get into a TTY and then run:

Xorg -configure

All this as your user, no root/sudo necessary.

Don’t know if it will, but I hope this helps!

Hey everyone, wanted to step in and say I am also having this same issue in the same exact circumstances as OP. Disabling lock on wake prevents it, manual lock doesn’t seem to cause the issue yet, but otherwise the screen stays on my lock screen wallpaper, no mouse movement or input response. I have found cycling the displays or waiting a bit can sometimes get things working.

Sadly, removing ~/.Xauthority did not let me get into a shell. Still stuck in the same way as mentioned above.

I agree that it seems to be an issue with X. That’s why i reinstalled the drivers to get a fresh conf file.

I’m also starting to wonder how i got back in in the first place. I’m pretty sure i removed Linux66 after first booting into 612 and it was working. My memory is not the best and it took me a day before starting this post.

My son asked me reset his password on old HP PC (I also installed Manjaro here:) ). As he didn’t use it for about a year, I’ve decided to update it. In process of update screen was locked by inactivity and I faced next “screen”. BTW recommended steps help and I login back.
