Not booting after an update (getting stuck/frozen at /dev/nvme0n1p2 clean ... files, x/x blocks))

Hello, after an update, and rebooting my laptop, it stays in a black screen with /dev/nvme0n1p2 clean … on the top left of the screen.

I tried looking for solutions and it looks like it’s related to nvidia. I saw in a recent post that he used the following commands:

sudo mhwd -r pci video-nvidia
sudo mhwd -i pci video-nvidia-470xx

The problem is that with mhwd -li, I have the following video:

video-hybrid-amd-nvidia-prime
video-linux

Which I found another solution with:

sudo mhwd -r pci video-linux

sudo mhwd -i pci video-modesetting

force reinstalling the hybrid driver

sudo mhwd -f -i pci video-hybrid-amd-nvidia-prime

Which solution do I go with? Just to be sure I already tried with sudo pacman -Syu with manjaro-chroot. I have Nvidia 3060

You should be able to get all that from a chroot environment.

I had (and still do have) this issue as well. For me, I managed to boot into the display manager by removing the X11 config file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf from a live medium terminal. I have no idea what is causing this. Attemping to change any resolution/refresh-rate related settings in nvidia-settings makes the issue occur again. I’ve seen a few people have a similar problem so I assume there will be some action taken soon. Hope this helps with your issue.

Because whatever you modify via nvidia-settings has to be added to /etc/X11/mhwd.d/nvidia.conf file and NOT create the /etc/X11/xorg.conf because those two will be in conflict, creating the issue you described.
