Hi
I just installed manjaro on my hybrid grafics laptop and did “sudo pacman -Syu” → reboot.
(Before reboot two monitors where working, i used proprietary drivers at installation)
I think my driver was updated, somehow I cannot get two monitors to work:
First no external monitor was detected, but I found:
“nvidia-xconfig” to create the xorg.conf.
I did this, reboot and now only my external monitor is working, I cannot get the laptop monitor to work and xrandr says:
Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 2560 x 1440, maximum 32767 x 32767

720x480 59.94
640x480 59.94
DP-4 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
Which leaves me with no clue.
I have the recommended video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-prime driver via manjaro settings manager installed.
Any idea?
Hi @MaxP ,
MaxP:
Any idea?
Yeah, the forum has many posts regarding this problem and in many the solution is the same. Nevertheless, in order for us, or anyone for that matter, to be able to provide assistance, more information is necessary. To that end, please see:
Please also provide the output for:
mhwd --list
and
mhwd --listinstalled
Hope you manage!
Tip:
To provide terminal output, copy the text you wish to share, and paste it here, surrounded by three (3) backticks, a.k.a grave accents. Like this:
```
pasted text
```
This will just cause it to be rendered like this:
Portaest sed
elementum
cursus nisl nisi
hendrerit ac quis
sit
adipiscing
tortor sit leo commodo.
Instead of like this:
Portaest sed elementum cursus nisl nisi hendrerit ac quis sit adipiscing tortor sit leo commodo.
Alternatively , paste the text you wish to format as terminal output, select all pasted text, and click the </> button on the taskbar. This will indent the whole pasted section with one TAB , causing it to render the same way as described above.
Thereby improving legibility and making it much easier for those trying to be of assistance.
Please edit your post accordingly.

however, this system is screwed up.
install optimus-manager and switch to nvidia

Switching to nvidia with optimus worked, and now I can only see the laptop monitor and no external anymore.
How can you tell there is something very wrong with the system?
Should I reinstall manjaro?

try with different kernel…
also add this parameter to your grub:
kate /etc/default/grub
and in this line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT
- inside the quotes add this parameter:
ibt=off
dont remove anything from there, just add it to the existing parameters, save the file, update grub with:
sudo update-grub
reboot
You wrote something about nvidia-xconfig.
I think that tool overwrites the Manjaro configuration or at least a while back it was not recommended to use.
Maybe this?

you switched to what ? what is the setting of optimus ? nvidia or SGI (internal GPU) ?

I needed to delete the xconfig file in order to switch to nvidia with optimus
edit: optminus-manager --switch nvidia
2nd edit: @brahma ibt=off brought no change so far.

I found the problem I had:
First, I did not edit the sddm.conf file where I have to comment out the DisplayCommand and DisplayStopCommand.
Secondly, I changed the optimus-magager.conf file, where I set the driver explicit to nvidia.
Now everything works as intended, even both monitors at the same time!
Thank you so much. Awesome community!
