Minimized apps just disappear

Hello,
Recently, the apps that I minimize just disappear to the middle of the desktop. The only way to go back is to use the launch bar to relaunch the app. This is pretty annoying since I have to start over whatever I was doing. I also notice the launch bar icons do not highlight when an app is open.
A similar topic suggests to switch to a different panel configuration (mutiny, cupertino, etc.).
How do I do that?

Hello,

You most likely removed the Task Manager or Icons Only Task Manager widget from your Panel. The easiest way is to Add New Panel and Chose the Breath one, then remove your older, nonworking Panel.
