Having trouble with Wi-Fi connectivity on my i7 laptop running Manjaro—what could be the cause and solution?

Hi everyone,

I’m having persistent issues with Wi-Fi connectivity on my i7 laptop running Manjaro Linux. The connection is often unstable, with frequent drops and occasional inability to connect to any Wi-Fi networks.

The problem seems to occur regardless of my distance from the router, and it’s been happening since I installed some recent system updates. The laptop, which has an Intel i7 processor, includes a Wi-Fi card that should work well with Linux. However, despite checking for any recent changes or new hardware, the issue persists.

I’m seeking advice on how to diagnose and resolve this Wi-Fi connectivity problem. I’m particularly interested in understanding what could be causing the instability and what steps I should take to troubleshoot and fix the issue. Additionally, if there are any known solutions or workarounds that could help stabilize the connection on Manjaro, I would greatly appreciate your insights.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi @jamesedision, and welcome!

:bangbang: Tip: :bangbang:

To provide terminal output, copy the text you wish to share, and paste it here, surrounded by three (3) backticks, a.k.a grave accents. Like this:

```
pasted text
```

Or three (3) tilde signs, like this:

~~~
pasted text
~~~

This will just cause it to be rendered like this:

Portaest sed
elementum
cursus nisl nisi
hendrerit ac quis
sit
adipiscing
tortor sit leo commodo.

Instead of like this:

Portaest sed elementum cursus nisl nisi hendrerit ac quis sit adipiscing tortor sit leo commodo.

Alternatively, paste the text you wish to format as terminal output, select all pasted text, and click the </> button on the taskbar. This will indent the whole pasted section with one TAB, causing it to render the same way as described above.

Thereby improving legibility and making it much easier for those trying to be of assistance.

:bangbang::bangbang: Additionally

If your language isn’t English, please prepend any and all terminal commands with LC_ALL=C. For example:

LC_ALL=C bluetoothctl

This will just cause the terminal output to be in English, making it easier to understand and debug.

Please edit your post accordingly.
