Bluetooth not working: not default controller available

Bluetooth has always worked for me but since yesterday scanning for devices is no longer possible.
Apparently also other people are having this issue recently :Bluetooth issue

checking the BT status with sudo systemctl status bluetooth shows the device to be working.

sudo systemctl status bluetooth  ✔

However when I wan’t to scan for devices it says NO default controller available.

bluetoothctl scan on  ✔

My adapter is a AX210 wifi m2 E card, wifi is working perfectly so I guess the card is still installed correctly.
Any ideas how to troubleshoot this ?

Hi @thepete,

Please see [HowTo] Provide System Information, if applicable, [HowTo] post screenshots and links and finally, [HowTo] Increase your chances of solving your issue.

Hope you come right!

Thank you Mirdarthos and sorry, I didn’t think system info was necessary for this post.
I’ve added it just now!

Hi,

Did you have tried to connect you with a phone in BT ?

I have had a similar issue Sunday on an new installation of kde .with my AX201 wifi/Bt card.
Nothing was show on the BT section and my mouse was not recognized in BT but yes in 2.4 Ghz.
I’ve tried my phone with success. For my mouse (a razer), it was an issue with the daemon.

Another thing you must add (at least for me, and my Gigabyte pci card)/plugged an usb extension into an internal usb port.

thanks for your response.
no I never connected my phone to my pc via BT. Also thanks for the tip, but my Ax210 is connected through an m.2 wifi E slot, so I don’t connect it via internal USB.

I don’t know if this was clear from my thread but I can’t connect any device, as searching/scanning for them doesn’t work.

My AX201 is connected by a PCIe Slot but you must connect it too via an internal usb. And you have even an usb port on the card.

Switching to the 5.14 (and lower) or the current LTS Kernel has been the only successful Bluetooth issue fix for me after months of trying…

I switched to 5.15 which fixed this issue. I hope that 5.16 or 5.17 will fix this issue.
Thanks for your help!

5.14 is EOL then you should go to the 5.15 or come back to the 5.10 which is too an LTS.
