Hi everyone, I’m Christian, located in southwest-germany and I work as an IT presales manager, but want to switch to web development in the medium term. Accordingly, I am well versed in JS, React and the typical web stack.

I have now switched completely to Linux, firstly to have a worry-free dev environment, and secondly to reduce a few dependencies on US tech. As good as possible.

I’ve read that Manjaro has had to put up with a lot of criticism in recent years, but I’m still happy to give it a chance, so far everything is running smoothly.

Welcome to the forum! :vulcan_salute:

We are aware of that, but I can assure you that most of said criticism is undeserved.

It is apparently easier for certain people to blame Manjaro when the real cause of the problem is located between the keyboard and the chair. We’re seeing it all the time.

Sadly enough, social media are rife with echo chambers these days. :man_shrugging:

There were some issues, but this is years ago.
I am with Manjaro for > 3 years overall and never had a single issue.

Me, neither. Manjaro works well on my hardware, with nary a issue.

Same here. I was a distro hopper and tried many other. But at the end i always returned to Manjaro

I can also only confirm that I feel comfortable with the system so far. And you said it, the net is full of questionable things. That’s why my social media expertise advised me to ignore the whole thing and give Manjaro a chance. A good decision so far.

I also confirm that, despite the many changes I’ve made, Manjaro does exactly what it’s supposed to.

Many thanks to those responsible.

I work as a philosophy lecturer in Brazil, and I’m just curious about many things. Until yesterday I have only used debian and debian-based distros, so when I got this new PC with Windows in it, a friend suggested that I should try Manjaro. And here I am. Greetings everyone!

In my opinion, a good choice, all round.

OH, and welcome to the forum.

:wave:t2: Hello there, Live Long and Prosper :vulcan_salute:t2: and Always Fine.
My name is Lucas, nice to meet you :pray:t2:!

Talking about Operating Systems, I began to use OS in 1998 which was Windows 98 followed by XP where I started to use Ubuntu Hardy Heron as well. After that, Ubuntu alongside Windows 7 then Kylin, Arch, Gentoo and Android (using it as a Desktop). I stayed with Android for 3 years until I was able to get a laptop with Windows 11. Months after later I changed to Manjaro (08/05/2025).

Actually I use LineageOS Android 15 and Manjaro. Manjaro is my main OS while Android looks like a “Co Operating System” (eg.: Playing ATS in Manjaro while listening to Radio, Music, via Android).

By using Manjaro I decided to sign up to this forum hoping to learn, improve my skills and surprisingly I’m feeling like a big family, especially because of how this forum works. Discourse is good at that. I’ve been to other forums and Discourse Forums are my favorites.

Well, I’m here to learn with Forum, with Manjaro, help and have fun. I like to read so it probably will appear that I’m inactive but I’ll be reading posts, gathering information, learning and eventually I’ll be able to help the Forum. I hope so .

Curiosity, my nickname means my name derived from Japanese Katakana, and also I use it in online games.

That is it! Well, I wish all the best to everyone! :two_hearts: :penguin: :desktop_computer: :computer: :man_technologist:t2: !

From Brazil, Lucas.

PS.: My apologies for some English grammar or vocabulary mistakes, I learn it alone . Feel free to correct me, I’ll be glad because it will help me to keep improving my English skills :v:t2:.

Don’t worry about that. Discourse will notice it anyway — it keeps track of that, and keeps it into account in promoting you to a higher trust level.

Hello everyone!!
My name is Prathap, and i am from bangalore, india, and i am a lawyer by profession and technology geek by default, and i’ve been Linux from past 10 years or so, and been using manjaro from past 5 years, though i dual boot my PC alongside windows 11, i’ve migrated all of my games and productivity tools to manjaro. i’ve also been advocating and encouraging my family members and friends to use open source software programs and their importance. And i am also actively persuading the courts to use open source applications in their daily, which is partially successful, and i hope i can do more to the open source projects through all the means i can.

Hi, new guy here! I’ve been a casual Linux user since around 2008 when I got introduced to PCLinuxOS. I’ve dual-booted with Windows ever since although I go long periods without booting windows at all depending on work or audio apps. I have interests in photo and video editing and audio recording and editing. The last few years I’ve mostly used Mageia as the lineage and Drake tools were already mostly familiar to me. I also have a Macbook that I dual-booted Fedora Asahi Linux on. I don’t get time to enjoy these as much I’d like. A few months ago I picked up a new/used ASUS Zenbook with Core Ultra 7 processor and of course wanted to setup linux dual-boot and maybe more distros as well. I found 2 or 3 familiar distros were not immediately able to complete the install and read some report that Manjaro worked right away for someone. I mistakenly was thinking Manjaro was yet another Mandrake grandchild that would seem familiar for that reason and then learned the reality as I was seeing new tools. Some things work differently so I have more learning to ask about in a proper category. I’m glad to be here as Manjaro has become a daily driver over the past few months.
