Also crossover seems to be a good option, although it is subscription based.
Once used it on my system (Evaluation version) and Office365 seemed to work pretty well back then.
Also, since you have 14 days (I think, or was it 7 days) of evaluation - you have plenty of time to check if your specific software will work or not.
I doubt if any distro of Linux will be slower than Windows (well at least Windows 10).
So, that is pretty weird.
…Er… Actually Ubuntu or their derivatives can stay, “performance” wise very near Windows 10… Sometimes faster… Sometimes slower… Fedora and other GNOME based distros might to be just something better… That might depend on your actual system hardware… And especially on whether one needs to install more proprietary drivers or not… Of course KDE or even other GTK+ DE’s to let alone the WM’s are another thing!..
But, let us to not be fooled by those “performance” wise analysis. Even Ubuntu can have a worse start up performance or feel slow on a given instance, but RAM management is far better, package management is far better (unless we are talking about that Snappy crap…), no blue screens, little to no viruses, no need for those myriads of maintenance software to be installed on the system (the few ones given up by the main distros more than suffix for that), normally no badly written drivers, no crap installed by default from the vendors, and I can go on and on… One cannot run a Windows system for more than say 2 years without a fresh install… I had a Linux Mint installed 5 consecutive years in a machine!.. And there was only a fresh install, because direct upgrade was risky and I opted for the easiest way…
And Manjaro? Manjaro is almost always faster than Windows or whatever Linux you might install. Bear in mind though that Kernel Headers won’t to be installed by default like generally on the *buntus and others. And I believe many other services as well… Your system will have the needed packages to go along… Pretty much a very clean system!.. Congrats to the team!..
Have a nice day!..
Hi, everyone,
I am new to this forum and still learning from this.
I recently shifted from Ubuntu 20.04 to Manjaro KDE. My laptop has a hybrid graphics i.e intel and nvidia, but after many tries I could not use my intel graphics. Switching graphics and updating them was a nightmare. I
That’s where manjaro helped me. The hardware detection worked perfectly and I can now used intel as default and nvidia on demand.
Anyway, kudos to the Manjaro team for this awesome distro.
Hi everyone,
I’m here to learn new things about linux.
Hello all again. This is tgood. I introduced myself in late February when I first installed Manjaro. I enjoyed the OS because it seemed to have many interesting and different features. However, lately I have had several problems that I cannot find an answer to. For that reason I am going to leave Manjaro and switch to a different OS for Linux. Thank you all for the work you do in creating a Linux system. I may be back in the future. Keep up the good work. Thank you all. Ted
Hi guys,
I was a long time Ubuntu user and switched now to Manjaro. I tested several distros and somehow directly fell in love with this ;-).
Greetings
Hi, I’m Ryan,
Last November, I got a message from my HP support software stating that HP was ending support for my laptop- so I decided to install Ubuntu on it. I was immediately impressed by how up to date it made my computer feel, as all of a sudden I had access to these new features that Windows didn’t give me.
I distro-hopped for a while, from Ubuntu, to Mint, to Clear, and then to Manjaro Cinnamon on that computer. I bought a new computer this February and I installed Manjaro KDE on it. I’ve had a few issues with my trackpad and trying to dual boot with Windows- but overall, it’s been a good experience. Windows is too engrossed in surveillance capitalism for my liking.
I’m still a newb when it comes to Linux. But, I’ve been gaining more and more knowledge about it and about how the operating system works. It’s to the point where I developed an interest in computer programming in the process.
I just recently finished my first program, a python script with about 300 lines of code. I’m a social worker by profession, and just for giggles, I automated a complicated scored assessment I use for my job. Could make my life just a little but easier. There probably is code somewhere that already accomplishes that, but I did it as a learning experience.
Hello,
My name is Georgi from Bulgaria. I am a medical student, DIY guy and somewhat of a gamer (I play a lot of DOOM). I like my things to just work. I’ve been using manjaro for a few years now. Hands down the best operating system in the world for a normal desktop user. The only stable rolling-release in existence.
You will probably see me in gaming related conversations here.
Hi, and welcome!..
For some quite recent laptops (most of what I’m hearing Lenovo ones) there is a problem related to the trackpad/touchpad. They’re working to a fix at the Kernel level, but it’s not fully completed as far as I can know. Meanwhile, try to use 5.10 as bare minimum for your laptop. 5.10 is a LTS Kernel, even though you might eventually not to see it as that on the Kernel. switcher app. I try to stick to LTS Kernels, once by and large me thinks that if all is well on your system, no need to change it all day after day, apart the security patches though. LTS grants that perfectly for my needs. Of course to each, its own.
Have a nice day!..
Hi everyone,
My name is Nuno. I’m from Porto, Portugal, and I have been using Manjaro as my only OS since 2016.
Currently, I’m using a second-hand Lenovo Thinkpad T420 I bought about two years ago and loving the experience.
Hi and be Welcome!..
Surely. Sane defaults, quite beautiful themes, easy install, easier upgrades, wonderful community, that’s it.
I’m not a gamer myself, so no involvement on gaming discussions here!.. But surely some nice guys ready to assist you on that!..
Have a nice day!..
Hi, hi, hi
Welcome @nunonun, always meeting us in this immense virtual world
Best regards,

Hi Manjaro community!
Hope we all have fun together with Manjaro flavors.
Mine is KDE.
Greetings from Zagreb!
Oh!.. Hi to all those new Portuguese members out there!.. Hope to see you on the Portuguese Language area!..
Have a nice day!..
Hello everyone, it’s been more than a year I completely switched to Linux. My journey started with Ubuntu, and immediately switched to Mint but didn’t use that longer even, and switched to Manjaro… Manjaro was the distro I used for 5 months or more and switched to pure arch, but didn’t stop there as well and tried and tested many Linux distributions (arch, Debian and rpm based) but I think now I’m tired of switching distro now and then, want to settle on Manjaro.
Hi all,
I’m Fuller a long-time Linux user (started on Debian in 2005 or 2006) and primarily a Fedora user for over a decade. I’m looking to run a testing system with Manjaro since I always like exploring alternatives.
I’m a research engineer and manage an experimental lab, but I also contribute to scientific software development (computational chemistry).
Hello.
After Mandriva reached EOL I started distrohopping to find the best-it-can-be environment for my needs.
I always give a distro a year and a half of exclusive use before I get into results. I’ve lived in every distro out there and I currently rest my needs on Manjaro KDE Plasma.
Manjaro KDE was supposed to be my pre Arch-from-scratch KDE and I’m stuck with it for the last 2 years.
So far so good, so easy.
Konsoley yours,
G4b1t
Greetings! I’m Mircea Kitsune, also known as Taoki. I’ve been an open-source fan and casual contributor for almost 15 years, especially in the area of FOSS gaming. Also a Linux user for nearly 10 years now… more if we count the days I had a Windows + Linux dual-boot system but used Win primarily.
The only Linux distribution I’ve ever used is openSUSE, having switched to the rolling release Tumbleweed a few years back. I never found a more fitting and user friendly Linux distro for me… until someone close introduced me to Manjaro recently. While I don’t plan on switching away from openSUSE especially not yet, I’m growing more and more intrigued with this OS; I’m running it in VirtualBox to better learn about it, and so far I really love its design with a few exceptions. I have a bunch of questions and suggestions which I’ll talk about in their own threads.
Hello, using Manjaro since 0.8 days, love it.
