Webcam logitech 720p stopped working

Hello, my webcam no longer works in Manjaro. I couldn’t tell which update caused it. It is a logitech webcam (Logitech C270 HD Webcam, 720p Video with Noise Reducing Mic).
When I run: dmesg | tail, I get this result, but I don’t know how to interpret it :

Edit : my kernel is 5.10.70-1 LTS.

The light on my webcam lights up.
I tried with different video conferencing software and Cheese too (I use GNOME), without success.

Thank you for your help !

Hey, I have the same problem, with the same Logitech webcam.

The strange thing is, that the webcam is also not showing any video anymore on a Windows pc.

Hi @Kapu, @thorsten79!

  1. Please see How to provide good information
1.1. If applicable, please see [HowTo] post screenshots and links
  2. Have you tried with ab older kernel? Version 5.4 is an LTS version.

Ok, thank you for the links.

Here is my consol when I launch Cheese through it :

(cheese:18842): cheese-WARNING **: 09:35:44.124: Internal data stream error.: ../gstreamer/libs/gst/base/gstbasesrc.c(3127): gst_base_src_loop (): /GstCameraBin:camerabin/GstWrapperCameraBinSrc:camera_source/GstBin:bin35/GstPipeWireSrc:pipewiresrc1:

Could it be from a pipewire update ? I use Wayland with Gnome.

[edit] : I didn’t try yet to downgrade my kernel. If it comes from Wayland, wouldn’t be a better (safer) use just to switch to X ? (if the problem really comes from it).

Hi, so I tried to launch Gnome with Xorg, but it didn’t change my problem.
I rolled back to the 5.1.159-1 kernel but it didn’t change either, I put down my outputs :

inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --width

gives :

Where could I find more help about hits ? Visioconference are really needed nowadays ^^

EDIT :

  • I re installed the 5.10 LTS kernel, nothing changed.
  • Something is odd from the beginning, the LED on my webcam is always on, as soon as I plug the webcam, whereas before this problem, the LED was on only when the visio started.

Anyone ? How could I get more help about that ? Is there any chance that I could solve it by buying an other webcam ? (I can’t afford me to buy a new webcam that might not work)

Trying an UP for this post ^^

Well, dude.

According to this page:

If my search wasn’t right, please excuse me and provide the correct one, someone who knows better.

Your info also states that it is using the logitec driver already:

So it seems everything is in order. So all I can recommend you do is use it/try to set it up. For than you can use solaar. And it’s in the community repository:

$ pamac search solaar
[...]
solaar 1.1.0-1 community
Linux device manager for a wide range of Logitech devices

So it can be easily installed with pamac:

pamac install solaar

I have no idea if this’ll work or not. And I also have no experience with webcams, or any camera for that matter. So the info given here is purely theoretical and it’s quite possible that it’s wrong. And that is why I didn’t answer earlier.

P.S.:
As much as I understand why you did it, bumping a topic is against the rules.

Edit:

Just saw this, :point_up_2: and it might, I have no idea. Try disabling pipewire:

sudo systemctl disable --now pipewire

I also don’t know if this’ll work, as in addition to not having any experience with any camera, I also don’t have any experience with sound.

Ok, thank you, I’ll try it later. I borrowed an other logitech webcam from a friend logitech and it worked with no problem. It’s not the same model. It’s very confusing for me.

It’s 2 different models, so 2 different drivers required. I’m guessing your friends is newer?
