Glibc 2.41 corrupting Discord installation

UPDATE: The issue should be resolved with discord 0.0.84-1

2025-02-03 - Frederik Schwan

We plan to move glibc and its friends to stable later today, Feb 3. After installing the update, the Discord client will show a red warning that the installation is corrupt.

This issue has been fixed in the Discord canary build. If you rely on audio connectivity, please use the canary build, login via browser or the flatpak version until the fix hits the stable Discord release.

There have been no reports that (written) chat connectivity is affected.

tuned 2.25.0-1 contains files under /usr/sbin and therefore currently leads to file conflicts:

Fixed with 2.25.0-3.

Running Plasma X11, and nvidia-open with GeForce RTX 3050 6GB Laptop GPU. The dual monitor setup work fine, but only if the primary display is set to be the built-in screen. If I try to set the external screen as primary, Plasma freezes but the mouse moves. The built-in screen remains partially responsive.

Every time I reboot my keyboard layout is deleted and switched back to English (USA) even if I delete it and every other layouts disappear from Keyboard settings.
I’m noticing it since yesterday.

Maybe a problem in fcitx, remove it completely if it is installed. I have encountered a similar problem but did not report it because I use Plasma 6.3. It worked for me.

you can try the fix i reported here: https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comments/1idoeje/comment/mbjehbn

It seems that update

sdl2-compat
lib32-sdl2-compat

from 2.30.52-1 to 2.30.54-1 breaks SDL. When trying to run mpv I get an error SDL_StretchSurface missing in SDL3 library Rollback to previous version fixes this.

I’m not seeing this.
Is your sdl3 package up to date (version 3.2.4-1)?

It seems that the problem was in sdl3 version, not sdl2-compat.
I found that the installed version used 1: and apparently ignored all updates.
After reinstalling sdl3, everything is fine with new versions of sdl2-compat.
My fault, I seem to have come now to check the relevance of all packages with 1: in name

In Dolphin I have a bug after an update where some previews are way smaller than others in visual size, moreover, folders that are containing that files and previewing them also happen to be smaller. The bug is already reported in upstream and I guess it should be added in known bugs.

Hi, I am playing around with plasma 6.3 on nvidia-dkms (570.86.16) on a GTX1650.
There are some conditions causing this error to occur again:

plasmashell[6552]: qt.qpa.wayland: eglSwapBuffers failed with 0x300d, surface: 0x655483ccdb80

which is usually accompanied by:

kwin_wayland[6386]: kwin_scene_opengl: 0x505: GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY error generated. Failed to allocate memory for texture.
kwin_wayland[6386]: kwin_scene_opengl: Invalid framebuffer status: "GL_FRAMEBUFFER_INCOMPLETE_ATTACHMENT"

One way to reproduce this, at least for me, is to move the slider of the the Night Light temperature in System Settings → Appearance & Style → Colors & Themes → Night Light.
When this happens, the screen goes totally black for 2 seconds.

Another closely related consequence of this is that if you have Night Light mode active and you boot with Plasma 6.3 on Wayland during the “night color time”, then you won’t be able to start the desktop at all! You can fix this by disabling NightColor inside ~/.config/kwinrc:

[NightColor]
Active=false

and then you can log in again.

(Of course, this issue does not affect X11 sessions.)

I searched a bit, and in the past this issue was deemed to be depending on egl-wayland (currently up-to-date, v1.1.17).

Are there further updates expected for plasma 6.3? Otherwise, I would open a bug upstream…

UPDATE

This only happens if an ICC profile is used. If I set ICC to “None” or to “Built-in”, then Night Light behaves correctly - but I loose colour correction…

Plasma 6.3 broke klassy … I worked ahead a bit and pulled from the existing PR.

There is also a funny bug I noticed because I have my own theme that explicitly disables the panel shadow (by removing it from the widget svg’s) … this was done in the ‘opaque’ and ‘solid’ subdirectories. And I use a fully solid/opaque panel. Well, after the 6.3 upgrade the shadow reappeared. Only after removing the shadow from the ‘translucent’ subdirectory widgets did it go away again. Thus it would appear that Plasma 6.3 is incorrectly pulling widgets/options from the ‘translucent’ widgets even on non-translucent panels.

Not a big deal in either case, but I leave these notes here in case they mean something to someone.

Does anyone know how to disable the now seemingly forced speaker icon in the “Icon only task manager”? There is a setting now to make the icon clickable or not (to mute/unmute the application), but I don’t find any to disable completely the speaker icon over the application icon that emits sound. //EDIT: Icon Bar Task Switcher - Sound Icon - Help - KDE Discuss there is an open issue on KDE bug tracker. //EDIT2: I uploaded the previous one to GitHub in the meantime a solution is found with the new one GitHub - Zorrototo/org.kde.plasma.taskmanager: Copy to ~/.local/share/plasma/plasmoids/

This bug was also in previous Plasma release, the commit fixing it has not been merged yet

Hi! After running the recent updates yesterday, I’m getting some issues with background windows violently flickering and now some flickering lines showing the desktop background through the window in Kate. To be honest, though, I’m pretty new to the forum and reporting issues, so I’m not sure where to best go with this and what information go gather first before I bother more people with it. As basic context: I’m running KDE Plasma 6 on Wayland, and you can find my inxi -Fazy here.

Hi, find some info about Plasma 6.3 issues
