On my Hp Spectre x360 my keyboard backlight key quits working

I have read similar posts on here that talk about their backlight key not working. My situation seems different. When I first boot into Manjaro it works fine. My backlight key has 3 levels. Bright, dim and off. Everytime I press the key it cycles through these steps. With the testing I have done so far it seems that after the computer goes to sleep and wakes up the key changes its function to when I hit the key it goes to sleep.
