after i recieved updates and restarted my pc i found that gui changed from default view to another view with a docker at the bottom of the desktop and the panel is at the top and i want to restore it how to do that and how to figure what happened exactly, please help

For some reason the Manjaro default configuration was removed or reset to the generic Xfce default.

The installing of updates does not do this.

However it happened - it can be fixed
by copying the contents of
/etc/skel/.config/xfce4
to
$HOME/.config/xfce4

You’ll have to do this from a TTY
while being logged out of the xfce session
or from (while logged into) that other user you just created.

You can’t do that from the same user session that you are wanting to “repair” -
not easily … the session manager would need to be stopped
else it would foil your attempts to replace those files.

That means only one thing: you do not have manjaro-xfce-settings installed, that can lead to conclude that you actually installed Xfce over another DE … :upside_down_face:

It depends on what you mean when you say:

It’s a simple copy operation.
Does it mean the source files in /etc/skel do not exist?
That is what @anon89812132 was referring to.

ls -al /etc/skel/.config/xfce4/
will tell you what is there

to copy it, from your user account, from within your session:

pkill xfce4-settings-manager
cp -r /etc/skel/.config/xfce4 ~/.config

log out of the session and back in

Of course you can do it by hand and adapt it to your liking.
That is how the Manjaro look was initially created …

now the template for it is in /etc/skel, if the manjaro-xfce-settings package was installed
