Mein voriger Beitrag wurde leider schon geschlossen und ich habe mich wohl zu früh gefreut: Das Problem ist vorhin wieder aufgetreten.
Zwei Tage lief es jetzt ohne Probleme (auch nach dem letzten stable update), jetzt ist es wieder passiert. Im Unterschied zu den letzten Tagen war der Laptop dieses Mal nicht an den Strom angeschlossen und nicht mit den beiden Monitoren verbunden - falls das relevant sein könnte. Habe ihn dann wieder verbunden, aber erst der vierte Reboot hat mich ins System gebracht.

So ein paar Sachen sollten wir noch klären.
Du schreibst “bleibt beim Hersteller-Logo hängen” also noch bevor Linux bootet ?
Ist das ein Dualboot-System ? Linux-Win ?
Kaltstart oder resume ?
Der Parameter ibt=off ist für dich irrelevant. Das betrifft Intel CPU’s der 12. Generation. Deiner ist Coffee Lake 7. Generation.
Du verwendest Plymouth ? Diese Seite beachtet ? https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/plymouth
Kaltstart, kein Dual Boot. Starte ich den PC, erscheint schnell das DELL-Logo, der Bildschirm wird dann ganz kurz schwarz, dann wieder DELL-Logo, kurz schwarz und zum dritten Mal DELL-Logo, manchmal mit Manjaro-Schriftzug und der Ladeanimation, manchmal ohne (?). An der Stelle geht’s dann nicht weiter.
Ich habe heute Vormittag noch mal verschiedene Kernel ausprobiert. Das Problem trat bisher mit 6.1.11-1 und 5.15.93-1 auf, mit dem älteren LTS-Kernel 5.10.167-1 nicht.
Das hier ist der aktuelle Boot mit 5.10.167-1:

Nicht bewusst. Habe vor rund zwei Wochen frisch installiert und das war wohl dabei!? Mir ist ziemlich egal, ob der Boot “flicker-free” abläuft oder nicht, solange ich ins System komme. Deinstallieren?
Werde ich machen.
Guter Punkt. Woran liegt es, dass da zwei laufen?

Nutze nur ein Gamepad und In-ear-Kopfhörer über Bluetooth und beides funktioniert einwandfrei.

Also eigentlich keine hinderlichen Fehler vermerkt im Journal. Im Grunde startet SDDM, wenn auch mit Warnungen. Loggt dich automatisch ein und startet alles, nur es wird auf deinen Bildschirmen nichts angezeigt.
Ich würde mal mit nur einem Bildschirm starten. Liegt wohl irgendwie am Bildschirm-Management von Plasma und Xorg.
An deiner Stelle würde ich mir mal diese Datei ansehen:

Gerade heruntergefahren und mit einem externen Bildschirm angeschlossen wieder gestartet: Hängengeblieben beim Hersteller-Logo und dem Manjaro-Schriftzug mit Ladeanimation.
Dann ohne verbundene externe Bildschirme gestartet: Hängengeblieben, schwarzer Screen mit den Meldungen:
[ OK ] Finished Hold until boot process finishes up.
[ OK ] Started CUPS Scheduler.
[ OK ] Finished Terminate Plymouth Boot Screen.
Nächster Versuch, wieder ohne externe Bildschirme: Hängengeblieben beim Hersteller-Logo OHNE Manjaro-Schriftzug/Ladeanimation.
Dann beide Bildschirme wieder angeschlossen und ins System gekommen.
Oder eine Einstellung verhindert das Starten von Linux. Das BIOS/UEFI von DELL ist eben nur für Win10 und Win11 ausgelegt, kann aber auch mit Linux funktionieren.
fwupdmgr hat’s noch nicht, dann muss ich mal schauen, wie ich das manuell hinbekomme. Allerdings bezweifle ich, dass es am nicht vorhandenen BIOS-Update liegt, das Problem tritt ja schon länger auf, als es das Update gibt. Find’s echt seltsam, der Laptop lief fast zwei Jahre ohne Probleme mit Manjaro und Plasma.
Edit: Update ist doch da, ich mach mal schnell.
Edit2: BIOS-Update erfolgreich, Reboot lief auch problemlos durch. Muss jetzt weg vom PC für heute, werde die Sache morgen weiter beobachten und mich noch mal melden. Wenn es dann immer noch zum Problem kommt, werde ich wahrscheinlich noch mal ganz neu aufsetzen und eine andere DE verwenden. Lieben Dank für die Hilfe bis hierher!
Veraltetes BIOS war’s jedenfalls nicht, nach dem Update trat das Problem weiter auf.
Seit der von weingeist angeregten Lösung läuft alles. Ich freu mich mal nicht zu früh, beobachte das die nächsten Tage weiter und berichte dann noch mal. Vielen Dank an alle!
