I updated my PC this morning and received a notification about breaking dependencies associated with nVidia drivers. Not thinking much of it, I proceed with the update and rebooted as required.
After a reboot, I am stuck in the fsck screen with this language:
Earlier today I did manage to get it to boot in such a way that it provided EE error codes, which as I recall were associated with an nVidia device not detected. I’m unsure of how to replicate results.
At this time, I am unsure how to proceed past fsck.
Let this be a lesson to start reading the errors and the update announcements before updating. Kernel 5.13 is EOL. And has been for some time. You’ll have to install another one:
In the chroot environment, run the following to install kernel 5.15:
mhwd-kernel --install linux515
Followed by rebooting, hammering the Esc frrom the BIOS splash screen until the GRUB boot loader screen appears.
On the screen navigate to the Advanced… option, and press Enter to enter the menu. On the screen, navigate to kernel 5.15, and press Enter when on it to boot using that kernel.
You should now be able to use your computer, but don’t. First open a terminal and remove the old kernel:
sudo mhwd-kernel --remove linux513
And reboot again. Then synchronise your system again:
I’ve run the install command as specified, and have rebooted the computer.
However, I’m unsure in my situation how to get to the GRUB bootloader. Is that the GNU GRUB command line interface? If it is, it’s at version 2.06~1~ and only has the command line, not advanced options showing kernel 5.15.
After implementing some of Mirdarthos’s recommendations, I reentered a live boot ISO to use chroot again and try to gain some information.
To that end, when I ran manjaro-chroot -a, I received this output (I am unsure if this relates to my difficulty booting to my Manjaro installation):
grub-probe: error: cannot find a GRUB drive for /dev/sdd1. Check your device.map.
grub-probe: error: cannot find a GRUB drive for /dev/sdd1. Check your device.map.

Additionally, having run the commands within chroot to update to kernel 5.15, I re-ran inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width:

To that end, it doesn’t appear I finalized my Kernel 5.15 installation, and I am stuck at how to follow the specified commands to boot where indicated.
That’s ok! I’m not sure what the nomodeset command is. And, at this point, I’m more concerned with getting my installation to the right kernel than attending to drivers.
I am not able to complete boot into my desktop, so I would have to run the commands with chroot or GRUB within the live ISO.
If you can still chroot as Mirdarthos explained, enter in and rerun mhwd-kernel --install linux515 and post the output here. Also take @Frawo 's advice and install linux515-nvidia. Then reboot, and remove the USB for the live iso, and hit Esc a bunch as as soon as your computer turns on until a menu appears (there may be a menu in between rebooting and grub, just hit enter on grub). There should be an option marked something like Boot to 5.15 in either that screen or an Advanced screen. Navigate with arrow keys and press enter on that.
If you do this, and see the fsck message you got earlier without getting into your system, hit Esc again and take a picture of the output if something appears (might be [ OK ] a bunch of times with words trailing).
If you have any questions, error codes, etc. please post & ask.
There have been some spectacular replies to this thread, however I have moved forward with a clean re-install (largely out of my own frustration). Thank you very much though for the support!
I hope you downloaded the latest version of the installation medium. The one you had installed has an end-of-life (unsupported) kernel, which was probably causing your problems with nvidia.
