Everything went fine in tty.
All graphic glitches in firefox and everywhere else are gone (amd apu 7735u). These were minor problem I ignored. But its great they have been solved.
I have the same issue. I am upgrading to 25 as well. I have AMD Ryzen 3, hopefully this will work.
[drm:amdgpu_job_timedout [amdgpu]] *ERROR* ring gfx_low timeout, signaled seq=964891, emitted seq=964893

The above message from Journalctl was the same every-time I had a freeze. I have changed to Mesa 25-Devel. No issues yet, however, it did take a few hours for the last freeze to occur. So time will tell. my set up:

Do you use nautilus ?
This the second update in a row now where the big update installed dolphin which I don’t use simply because I use a few gnome packages.
Checking the log a message popped up about conflicting FileManager1 instances in /usr/share/dbus-1/services.
I had to remove org.freedesktop.FileManager1.service
as it conflicts with org.xfce.Thunar.FileManager1.service
So find the FileManager1 service you DONT use and rename or delete it.
Yes rebuild python 3.12->3.13 AFTER the update,
Mine listed over 160 packages but after the 1.6Gb update running the check again the big update had reinstalled all but 6 to python3.13
Only problem, one of them was powerline bash font (powerline-shell) so my terminal was nuked.
EASY FIX - in pamac-gui find powerline-shell, verify files are currently in python3.12 and then uninstall. Reinstalling puts them in 3.13.
I was then able to successfully install the 5 remaining packages.
Not seen the screen blanking activity — yet
And no problems so far with kernel 6.13
Same here. Thank you very much.
TIL. From man systemd.special
Yeah, I guess that is obvious after reading it…
The result of me having a service unit file in ~/.config/systemd/user/
where I had used WantedBy=default.target
was that the update got stuck in post-transaction hooks;
( 5/38) Reloading user manager configuration...
Job for user@1000.service failed because the control process exited with error code.
See "systemctl status user@1000.service" and "journalctl -xeu user@1000.service" for details.
error: command failed to execute correctly
That step eventually timed out after about a minute and the update then completed succesfully. I tracked down the cause later. Only reporting it in case it helps anyone seeing something similar.
Apart from that zero problems.
Updated fine on two machine
Manjaro KDE, had some AUR packages that needed to rebuild with python 3.13 which I did manually.
And had to re-install several pip packages with pipx.
On Manjaro xfce, I had some issues
- Weather applet appearance was reset (the scrollbox) had to manually change it back
- Several packages need to rebuild against python 3.13, but I get this error when trying @philm solution
sudo pamac build $(pacman -Qoq /usr/lib/python3.12/)
Failed to read AUR data from /var/lib/pacman/sync/packages-meta-ext-v1.json.gz : Error opening file /var/lib/pacman/sync/packages-meta-ext-v1.json.gz: No such file or directory
Error: target not found: mcomix
- I have several pip packages that are no longer available, because I messed up and updated to python 3.13 before doing a list of pip packages before the update.
How to solve this?
Manjaro Wiki - Using Pamac CLI
Warning
Using sudo with pamac can have undesirable effects, especially when building packages. if in doubt, don’t use sudo. Pamac will ask for escalated rights if needed.
My pamac crashed while downloading the updates even tho libpamac was already up to date. I let it do it’s thing for 40 minutes, then I updated the kernel from the other manager, rebooted fine. I had to rebuild a lot of python stuff as stated in the 3d. Everything seems fine.
I had the same freeze after the update. Can you tell me where i can get mesa 25.1.0-devel and how to install?

Mesa-git is the development version. I used yay to download and install it.
Okay, thank you. I will try tomorrow.

Did the update via TTY and sudo pacman -Syu
The upgrade completed and I am logged in now, however, an error was generated as follows:

Not sure if I need to do anything in response to this. If anyone is able to help, I would greatly appreciate it!
I saw the same error in my devices. Is this something we should worry about? Not sure what the erro means
Gnome extensions Caffeine and ShutdownTimer not working after the upgrade. Initially F12 suspend / hibernate was not working at all. Found out the 2 Gnome extensions to be the problem. Once disabled, F12 works. Would be nice to get the two extensions working again.

During the update process the Pamac window suddenly vanished. When I tried do update from terminal using pacman, I noticed that the update was still running, and at last it finished and was successful. Unfortunately I have no useful information, but it’s not a real problem.
Another thing is that lazarus-gtk3 does not work. There is no window opened, only the application icon is visible. I replaced it with lazarus-gtk2 from AUR, but I have to add lazarus-gtk3 to the ignore list, otherwise it replaces lazarus-gtk2 during an update. Unbelievable, but regarding to their website, GTK3 is still experimental in Lazarus.
If the update finished successfully there may be information about updated packages in pacman log
cat /var/log/pacman.log | grep 2025-02
