[Stable Update] 2021-09-16 - Kernels, Steam, Pipewire, Firefox, Thunderbird, Pamac, Pacman

It went pretty smoothly, and i enjoy the improvements to the ntfs compatibility, being able to actually read filenames in the terminal on a ntfs partition is a huge help.

Pipewire has stopped working well for me after this update. When playing music from VLC (or rather if anything is playing sound) and then something else plays a sound, the audio goes silent until you restart playback. This only seems to happen if I am using Bluetooth headphones, using the speaker sink on my monitor via HDMI works fine.

Just updated and for me OBS stopped seeing input audio devices.

Opened another thread:
https://forum.manjaro.org/t/obs-stopped-recognizing-input-audio-devices-after-sep-16-stable-update/83305

Hi, since the update I am facing delay with Thunar (file explorer in XFCE). Most of the times it starts with delay of several seconds, or it does not start at all. When starting from CLI, I get this message:

Failed to register: Zeitüberschreitung wurde erreicht
(should translate to: Failed to register: time limit was reached)

Before the update I did not have any issues at all. Any idea anyone?

After this update, firefox on sway becomes very unresponsive. Almost every buttons on the top bar except the tabs switcher don’t do anything when clicked. Pages are slow although the application still consume normal amount of RAM.

This issue is not observed in firefox when run on gnome 41.

I think this may have something to do with the updated matcha-gtk-theme.
Update: This issue is already reported here.

Update broke something :frowning: My mouse doesn’t work after resume from suspend. Happens on kernel 5.13 and 5.14, all USB ports. It’s powered up, cursor is placed in the lower left corner area, but it doesn’t move and buttons don’t work. I have to unplug and plug again. Any ideas?

Still having some audio issues (since 5.3.12-1 update), documented here: Sound issues with 5.13.12-1 / 5.14 - speakers recognized as headphones and microphone not working

Yeah, I had this too, and it can’t be set

ctrl+shift+delete - display dialog to selectively delete history, cache, etc for a specific time period.

Create a new profile (and keep old, at least for the time being). In the command line, type about:about and select about:profiles (could also just type about:profiles). This can also be accomplished by starting firefox from the command line, firefox -P &.

Hi @Computer_Email23 , I think it is a bug when you install a new 09-16 iso, it should be OK if you upgrade system from an old one .

You can try this to solve it:

$ yay -Rc gnome-shell-extension-nightthemeswitcher
$ yay -Su gnome-shell-extension-nightthemeswitcher

And the warning should be disappeared.

Firefox reverted to English again, but this time rebooting didn’t fix. I had to add French from the settings, making Firefox download the language pack instead of using the already installed firefox-i18n-fr package.

The language issue in Firefox got worse with the update from this morning, mixing entries in English and French.

After a few tests, it appeared the issue came from the settings in my profile, as creating a new profile has everything in French as it is supposed to be.
After some tweaking, i managed to come back to a fully French output:

  • in Settings > General > Language, remove all French language entries
  • close Firefox
  • make a backup copy of your profile folder (~/.mozilla/firefox/???.default)
  • open Firefox
  • in Help > More troubleshooting information, click on Refresh Firefox
  • let Firefox build a new profile from your previous information; you should now have a language-fixed profile, with your bookmarks but without your customization and extensions
  • close Firefox
  • empty the new profile folder, except ~/.mozilla/firefox/???.default-???/lock
  • copy the whole content of your backup profile folder in the new profile folder, except the lock file
  • open Firefox; you should now have a language-fixed profile, with all your bookmarks, customization and extensions

Considering i technically kept the whole content of my profile, the issue might have come from the cached profile instead, but i didn’t try deleting it (Help > More troubleshooting information > Clear startup cache).

I was having this problem with pt/br language, everything was in english. I deleted the folder .mozilla and .cache/mozilla and everything is working fine now. I lost all my logged in sessions and needed to reconfigure some little things, but it was worth it to me
