Speaker shows up after headphones are plugged in

Hi, Recently like today the speaker (for my laptop) is not listed in the output on boot. When I plug in the headphones the system detects and adds the headphones to the devices. When unplugging the headphones, a speaker entry is added and speaker works as expected.

Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this behavior?

what desktop are you using.
for example i use xfce, my settings look like this.

I suggest you check all packages have been updated and try this:

Try clearing the databases in your home folder of any old settings by executing:

rm ~/.config/pulse/*.tdb ~/.config/pulse/cookie

Reboot afterwards.

Using your heaphone jack, plug it in and out a bunch of times… sounds like the port switch might be stuck.

That worked!!!

After rebooting speakers are still there in the KDE audio settings.
