Sound stop working randomly on 5.15 LTS kernel

Hello,

Im facing a weird issue on a nearly fresh install (installed via last LTS version of manjaro kde plasma one month ago). My sound seems to stop working when :

  • I use HDMI and start a video (???)
  • I put my computer in sleep mode and wake it up later
  • When i plug headphone
  • When i pause a youtube video and start it again
  • And when I use pretty much anything that includes sound (slack, youtube, any stream video, …)

Did someone face the same issue ? All my packages are up to date…

The only way I found to have sound again is to restart my computer

Welcome to Manjaro forum

Some users had similar issues after Stable Update 2022-12-06 with kernel v5.15.81:

Audio randomly cutting out on Manjaro KDE

Audio only works the first time I play something. Then I have to restart to get it working again

But there is now another update 2022-12-20 including kernel v5.15.84

If audio is not working as expected with the updated kernel, try installing kernel v6.0

Out of curiousity i tried today using linux515 again: first it worked with google-chrome-stable but if i stop video and try to continue … no sound any more.

For me the only solution is as nikgnomic mentions:

If audio is not working as expected with the updated kernel, try installing kernel v6.0

Now i’m asking myself: why that? linux515 ( updated today ) is a LTS(!!) kernel. I think there is something special on my laptop. But since it works with linux61 i don’t care any more about this issue!
