I’m waiting for this to reach Stable branch… Currently Plasma 6 is unusable for my setup (issues with laptop screen and external monitor) so I had to switch to Kubuntu, because I use this laptop for professional purposes and I don’t have time to sit and tinker with a buggy DE. I’m hoping to get back on Manjaro before Christmas
Maybe open a support thread if you have issues instead of ranting and distro-hoping, and having faith in issues automagically disappear in some package… Why do you even bother registering here to tell us you’re using Kunbuntu?
//EDIT: on a side note, Rolling Release distro are probably not the good choice for “professional use”. [Consideration] Is Manjaro the right distribution for you?
Thank you for looking up my profile just so you could condemn me for just coming in and saying exactly what? Tell us? Were you appointed as the spokesperson for the Manjaro Team or what?
I have not uttered a bad word about this distro, and KDE 6.x has issues, more than one, and I lost patience, and dared to distro hop to save time.
I didn’t know that everyone is obliged to fill in bug tickets before they speak out.
So please reconsider before you berate someone next time.
I didn’t “go to your profile” to “berate you”
This is a support forum, what good does registering, telling us basically “there are issues, I lost patience, I don’t use Manjaro anymore”. I’m telling you it is useless, that’s all, and you not posting the issues is not helpful to fix them.
You chose quite an agressive way of conveying “Hello, sorry to hear that. Maybe you could fill a bug report in your spare time? We won’t know what’s wrong if you simply hop to another distro. Thanks!”
While I will concede that @omano’s initial response could have been worded better — in his defense, he’s not a native English speaker — your reply to him was far more aggressive.
Please tone it down, both of you.
Why not just switch to Testing branch to see if your system works okay with Plasma 6.1? That is a lot faster & easier than switching to another distro:
sudo pacman-mirrors --api --set-branch testing
sudo pacman-mirrors --fasttrack 5 && sudo pacman -Syu
I will give a shot. Thanks
I’ll just add that you might need to deal other issues while in Testing Branch; it’s for testing after all; as obvious as it may seem.
When Plasma 6.1 is finally released to Stable, switching back is just as easy.
sudo pacman-mirrors --api --set-branch stable
sudo pacman-mirrors --continent && sudo pacman -Syu
Cheers.
I could see people expecting sugar coated replies, rainbows and unicorns, but this is all a question of point of view.
To me this kind of post, that only this week there have been multiple of (the type of post “enough of Manjaro, I distro hop!”), are quite offensive to the distribution and the community. I did not insult or picked on him, it was just a pragmatic reply based on (my?) reality. Anyway I’ll not reply to him anymore, the cards are in his hands if he wants solution.
I understand your frustration — really, I do. But let’s just get back to the topic, shall we?
As nobody has as yet taken the initiative;
