The answer in the Questions i found in the forum was specific to that user case, can you help me?

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

  1. Please read this:
    How to provide good information
and post some more information so we can see what’s really going on. Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
  2. Thank you for the inxi as that helps already, but we still don’t know what you’re doing when you get this warning, so we don’t know where to start looking to help you, so that’s why you haven’t received any answer in 2 days…

:+1:

P.S. If you enter a bit more details in your profile, we can also see which Desktop Environment you’re using, which CPU/GPU or Kernel, … you have without typing it every time

am sorry for replying late, i updated the question now

I’m sorry to tell you that your NVIDIA GT218M / NVS 3100M is considered to be a “Legacy GPU” by nVidia so no current proprietary drivers are available so you took the right choice to install the open source Nouveau driver.

However, your card is also so old and so slow that it gets detected as a software renderer using Nouveau.

You only have 5 options here:

  • Hope that there is a developer out there that has the same card as you and that is working on optimizing the Nouveau driver to squeeze out the most of your old card
  • Get involved in Nouveau development yourself
  • Upgrade the card
  • Try the video-nvidia-390xx legacy driver instead of Nouveau (Not guaranteeing anything; make a full system backup before you start fiddling with display drivers!)
  • Live with what you have

:sob:

P.S. To get rid of the warning, set the rendered to “software”. :man_shrugging:

Thank you for the help

I willl live with what I have until upgrading my laptop

One last question, if I set rendered to software it will still use the card, am. I right?

  • No, you’re wrong! No, it will use your CPU, but if you don’t notice the difference and really hate the notification, it’s just a way to get rid of it as your card is slow anyway.
  • If you don’t mind the notification, leave everything as is.

Also, I’ve marked this answer as the solution to your question as it is by far the best answer you’ll get.

However, if you disagree with my choice, please feel free to take any other answer as the solution to your question or even remove the solution altogether: You are in control! (If you disagree with my choice, just send me a personal message and explain why I shouldn’t have done this or  or :+1: if you agree)

:innocent:
P.S. In the future, please don’t forget to come back and click the 3 dots below the answer to mark a solution like this below the answer that helped you most:
Solution
so that the next person that has the exact same problem you just had will benefit from your post as well as your question will now be in the “solved” status.
