I have had problems with my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 card earlier. See here.
When I tried updating my computer today with:
sudo pacman -Syyu
I got the following problem.
warning: removing 'libxnvctrl' from target list because it conflicts with 'libxnvctrl-470xx'
:: libxnvctrl-470xx and libxnvctrl are in conflict. Remove libxnvctrl? [y/N]
There were mentions of a similar problem here, here and here.
But none offered a solution.
How do I proceed so that I do not run into difficulties?
Please let me know if you need any further information.
Have you tried to update with
@Mirdarthos Thanks. No. I have not. I remember reading earlier that
sudo pacman -Syyu from a text console (Alt-Ctrl-F2) is the best/ safest way to install updates. So, I have been doing it that way.
pamac update a better/ recommended method?
In your other post you say that installing nvidia driver 470 solves you problem. So you should also use ‘libxnvctrl-470xx’ on your system.
‘libxnvctrl’ package should be for actual nvidia driver (at the moment 495). So if it was my machine I would choose ‘yes’ and remove ‘libxnvctrl’.
Personally, I always recommend it. Plainly because
pamac is built for Manjaro by Manjaro.
