During installation I had to boot using proprietary drivers to boot to live USB as computer was not able to boot using open source drivers .Now after installation system not booting again.please help

From the output provided there is only Intel and no Nvidia.

It may be that the video card is not correctly seated in the slot. Additionally, GF310 might no longer be supported (in general).

Hi @asifnaz, and welcome!

Sounds like an old installation media, since it did work using the proprietary drivers. And this :point_down:

Makes it sound like the card might be disabled in the BIOS/UEFI. So check that.

And note that, if it, indeed, is the 310 card, as the title says, it will not work OOB and you’ll have to search around here on the forum for instructions on how to get it working. (Based on my knowledge from a quick search.)

But we can’t say any more t6o confirm/dispell the theories without any more information. To that end, please see:

Please also note and heed: Forum Rules - Manjaro

Hope you manage!

:bangbang: Tip: :bangbang:

To provide terminal output, copy the text you wish to share, and paste it here, surrounded by three (3) backticks, a.k.a grave accents. Like this:

```
pasted text
```

Or three (3) tilde signs, like this:

~~~
pasted text
~~~

This will just cause it to be rendered like this:

Portaest sed
elementum
cursus nisl nisi
hendrerit ac quis
sit
adipiscing
tortor sit leo commodo.

Instead of like this:

Portaest sed elementum cursus nisl nisi hendrerit ac quis sit adipiscing tortor sit leo commodo.

Alternatively, paste the text you wish to format as terminal output, select all pasted text, and click the </> button on the taskbar. This will indent the whole pasted section with one TAB, causing it to render the same way as described above.

Thereby improving legibility and making it much easier for those trying to be of assistance.

:bangbang::bangbang: Additionally

If your language isn’t English, please prepend any and all terminal commands with LC_ALL=C. For example:

LC_ALL=C bluetoothctl

This will just cause the terminal output to be in English, making it easier to understand and debug.

Because I had to unplug Nvidia geforce 310 and use integrated GPU . As it was not booting as I mention in orignal post .

What is the problem then?

The open source Nouveau driver is opensource and quite functional when it comes to old Nvidia cards.

Since this topic is your first I am guessing you are not familiar with Arch Linux and Manjaro.

latest gforce driver supporting 3xx series is 340.x - effectively making your device unsupported on Archbased distributions.

You may however succeed if you use a custom package build using AUR buildscript.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_User_Repository

For this to work you need to use manjaro unstable branch, possibly dkms and kernel headers.

sudo pacman-mirrors -aS unstable

Check your running kernel

 $ mhwd-kernel -li
Currently running: 6.1.55-1-MANJARO (linux61)
The following kernels are installed in your system:
   * linux61

Install kernel headers matching the last word - in this example linux61 - important to run a full system update as well

sudo pacman -Syyu linux61-headers dkms

Then build the 340xx drivers

pamac build nvidia-340xx-dkms

You may want to build other 340xx related packages as well

pamac search 340xx

More information may be found at the following link NVIDIA ArchWiki.

Be mindful that even if successful in using the unsupported GF310 (using the guidelines outlined at the above link), you will likely be plagued with poor performance (unavoidable) and ongoing maintenance issues.

The better solution is to buy a compatible graphics card. Not being a fan of Nvidia, I would suggest an AMD Radeon RX 580 / RX 590 for general affordability, availability, reliability and support. Cheers.
