I have a USB-C Ethernet Adapter connected in my laptop. Sometimes the Network stop working and all the system start failing. There are some errors:
-
lsusb doesn’t respond
-
sudo doesn’t respond
-
mhwd doesn’t respond
-
systemctl doesn’t respond
-
ip doesn’t respond
- When I unplug/plug the USB there’s a new entry on the journalctl but nothing happen when I unplug/plug the RJ45
I found this on the kernel log using “journalctl -xa -r”
The page said I cannot post links or images
I also save the last 500 lines of the journalctl, I will post it here by request. Let me know if you need more information. Thanks in advance.
Hi @nsariego ,
Welcome to the forum.
Could you post the output of the following terminal commands, in order to see what kind of adapter are you using?
inxi -Fazy
lsusb -v
Hope this help, regards
Hello, thanks for the answer. These are the ouputs.

‘USB ethernet adapter hangs system... reliably :-(’
Regards
Sorry for the delay, I found this on the journalctl at the moment it happened.

Hi, @nsariego ,
Your usb ehternet adapter is up and running as I can see from the first output (inxi -Fazy)
From the second terminal command I suggest you to verify in your BIOS settings whether the usb could be enable to suspend the power to the usb, because of the last to lines that I quoted. Otherwise, I can not see any other problem.
Regards,
Thanks @j8a for helping me, sorry to be so insistent but it happened again and I run the commands you give me again. First of all I tried to do a inxi -Fazy
but every time I execute it, it freezee. The KDE Network Manager and all the Preferences do not respond, ip a
and any sudo
command neither.
This is the lsusb -v return

I check the BIOS, is very lacky of options, no one referring to USB or power.
Thanks.
Hi @nsariego ,
I could see you did not read the post I suggested you. May be, there is a problem in the auto suspended mode in the tlp settings. I wonder whether it could help you to solve the problem following @Wollie guideliness.
There is anothe post you could read the following post, where @Seabass gave a hint on a posible source for this problem and a solution?
‘Timed Shutdown/Hibernate during SSH Session’
