I’ve already resolved one issue that was causing it not to boot. That issue was a corrupt package that needed a force reinstall, peops looking for info on that look at this thread:

I’ve found out through keepassxc that my libqt5-svg is corrupt (no doubt due to the forced reboot that I had to do during an update about 30min ago by now). I suspect it’s not the only package broken and this one in particular is a dep of manjaro utils forcing me to keep it in it’s state despite my best efforts to reinstall it through the gui package manager. At this point I expect I will need the terminal to fix things so how do I force reinstall the package and, if possible, trigger the same f…

Now onto the issue that brought me to this subcategory of the forum:

I’m not sure what to do with that nor what kind of title to give it it’s own dedicated thread for future solution hunters, so for now I’m bringing it here and if peops have a suggestion for thread titles then I will make it it’s own thread and link it here.

When a file is broken it is often a sign of file system corruption.

I suggest you reboot to rescue ISO then check the root file system, optionally repairing, then reinstall the qt5-base package.

not clear on the rescue iso thing so for now shelving it, as an aside I’ve just done a memtest from grub and no issues there. whatever it is is definitely not related to ram and cpu cache

Yes, but do you know how? You seem to be trying to tackle multiple issues at once without considering why they’re occurring. If you don’t know how, then please ask rather than demanding answers for things you haven’t worked through properly yet.

No, I just wait for the 1st ram card to finish testing since they were bought together and always used together. If one’s okay then the other surely is too. as for the cache, I assume that was tested 1stas that would be the quickest on any system and usually what hardware devs would care about most since it’s easier to just swap out ram sticks for known working ones prior to launching memtest were the ram not the priority

where did you see me demanding answers on this thread? the other thread yes because the responder was trying to derail the purpose of the thread. My motto is to tackle the current problem 1st then deal with what is revealed when that is either done or in progress, not try to diagnose said problems before I’ve even encountered them. Since it’s been said that the filesystem is probably corrupt then I should check that now that I know where to start. Once that check is done and any problems revealed during that are fixed then I’ll move onto the next (if applicable). It’s always better to remove as many symptons as possible to narrow down the symptoms of the root problem, that way nobody is confusing unrelated symptoms with the main problem. So now I will try to rule out the filesystem in the keepassxc symptom.

They weren’t trying to derail anything. Like I said you’ve posted 3 different topics in 3 hours which all likely relate to the same issue; yet you’re not asking for help to solve the problem, you’re expecting answers to separate problems when they’re likely the same problem. You’d be better off posting once and including all of those symptoms in the one post along with all the required information, otherwise a whole lot of context gets missed because they’re in separate threads.

You wanna address your perceived root problem? Then address if and when we get to it, please stop trying to derail threads over what you think should be asked instead of what was asked. Follow the trail, don’t try to take shortcuts because that’s a on way street to getting lost.

Had to create a new accoutn because I forgot my password and it’s stored in the keepass database file that I currently cannot open due to keepassxc not booting not just on the usual boot of manjaro xfce but even the live usb. I even tried keepsecret but that won’t boot for similar reasons:

I still need the help though? For starters I don’t even know what I need to do to check the file system. With windows I still recall the chdsk thing but I’ve never needed to on linux before (which is a good thing imo). As for resetting the password, I don’t want it reset, I just need to be able to load my database that has it to reload it. plus I think I forgot my email account’s password anyways which was also stored in that database. From what I’ve been told in a pm it’s possible for the posts from this account to be merged in at some point (preferably after I’m able to load my database again, at which point I won’t need this separate account) so in this circumstance I think a temporary ignorance of the rules is acceptable.

Edit 3: Dunno if this was what I was directed to do but I found out about fsck so I’ve tried that, doesn’t seem to be a file system level issue (did follow a guide btw):

I haven’t attacked anyone’s character on this thread (the other one sure when I was in a fit of rage) but in this one the closest one came to qualifying as such was against me and I don’t really care about that one as it was just pwx pointing out something that shoulda stayed in that thread, which is not exactly attacking my character, just dragging up irrelevant stuff to this thread’s topic.

@linux-aarhus Is there anything else besides fsck you meant for me to do in live usb mode? I’d really rather not re-install my system if I can help it, would be a lotta effort to set all my programs and what not back up the way I like

Final edit: @Aragorn I managed to get keepassxc to run on the liveusb so you can start merging my posts into my zxuiji account. Gonna log out of this one and log into that one. Also according to my database I have another account, probably under the name awsdert. You can merge that one in too since I likely forgot about the account when I made the zxuiji one. I’ll see if I can still log into that 2nd one so I can pop a post here for you to confirm it’s an extra account

That’s a complete misinterpretation. This tactic might (with emphasis) be applicable to hard disk drives, SSDs and other components that wear over time and have been in use for a long time already, but memory modules are a completely different thing, and they are prone to temporary corruptions due to atmospheric circumstances.

Furthermore, a proper memtest should be run for 24 hours, so as to make sure that they can repeat consistency, as well as that the test not finding any errors is no guarantee that the modules are fine.

Did a force re-install of qt5-x11extras and keepassxc finally launched, I’ll mark this as solved even though whatever the related problem is not solved
