Internal microphone shows as (unplugged) and speakers don't get detected

I’ve been having this problem for quite some time now. It comes and goes. Sometimes after reboot, I see the speaker icon in the taskbar as crossed out and when I go to audio settings it sees the mic device but renders “Internal Microphone (unplugged)”, which is impossible (right?). At times, a simple turn off, wait for a couple of hours, turn on helps, but not always. It may persist for days and days.

Can you post a link to your alsa-info.sh output both when and when it’s not working so we can do a diff between the two? (sounds like a hardware problem)

Just in case: Can you clean your audio 3.5mm jack? (air-spray, plug / unplug an external microphone like the terrible one you got for free with your phone)

A laptop with Intel 7th gen Skylake CPU will have a digital array microphone and should be using snd_soc_skl driver instead of snd_hda_intel

Later kernel versions have been patched to use the correct driver, so I suggest you install kernel v5.13
Use either Manjaro Settings Manager GUI - manjaro-settings-manager -m msm_kernel
or this command

sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux513

If audio is still not working as expected with this kernel, please post ALSA information again

sudo alsa-info --upload
