When installing the latest update, several file like org.freedom.platform remained available in pamac after successfully being installed. How do I remove this opportunity?
I’m guessing this is still the case after getting Pamac to “check for updates”, or even after rebooting?
… if you updated using the command-line, the GUI notifier won’t see any changes until you instruct it to refresh, or you wait until its next scheduled check.
Your guess is correct, sorry if I wasn’t clear enough.
What I’d suggest is trying the updates again but using sudo pacman -Syu
. Another thing: do you have any AUR packages installed? This might be an issue here.
It may help if you list which packages are involved here.
terminal command replies:
:: Synchronizing package databases…
core is up to date
extra is up to date
community is up to date
multilib is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade…
there is nothing to do
PS the packages are all flatpack if that helps
Ah yes, as I suspected. Could you post the output of pacdiff -o
…? I know there will be important ones to deal with there.
There’s always the possibility something is attempted to be referenced in that repo, which no longer has anything in it and will be removed altogether at some point.
[steve@steve ~]$ pacdiff -o
bash: pacdiff: command not found
I suspect this “org.freedom.platform” is related to some flatpack packages.
All the ones in question are flatpack.
This has been part of the pacman-contrib
package for quite some time now!
sudo pacman -Syu pacman-contrib
I posted before I saw the latest replies. Flatpak, indeed; but I thought Pamac could handle those? I don’t have any on my systems.
[steve@steve ~]$ pacman -Syu pacman-contrib
error: you cannot perform this operation unless you are root.
[steve@steve ~]$ sudo pacman -Syu pacman-contrib
[sudo] password for steve:

Looks good there, except for the formatting as kindly pointed out by @Mirdarthos below… You must have copied the command before I snipe-edited it to add the missing sudo
.
Tip
When posting terminal output, copy the output and paste it here, wrapped in three (3) backticks, before AND after the pasted text. Like this:
```
pasted text
```
Or three (3) tilde signs, like this:
~~~
pasted text
~~~
This will just cause it to be rendered like this:
Sed
sollicitudin dolor
eget nisl elit id
condimentum
arcu erat varius
cursus sem quis eros.
Instead of like this:
Sed sollicitudin dolor eget nisl elit id condimentum arcu erat varius cursus sem quis eros.
Alternatively, paste the text you wish to format as terminal output, select all pasted text, and click the </> button on the taskbar. This will indent the whole pasted section with one TAB, causing it to render the same way as described above.
Thereby increasing legibility thus making it easier for those trying to provide assistance.
For more information, please see:
Additionally
If your language isn’t English, please prepend any and all terminal commands with LC_ALL=C
. For example:
LC_ALL=C bluetoothctl
This will just cause the terminal output to be in English, making it easier to understand and debug.
Thank you for the tip.
Please note, that OP is talking about Flatpak. It has nothing to do with pamac.
The applications from Flatpak need a runtime installed. If you install such app, the required runtimes are also installed, however, upon removal, it’s not cascading and it won’t remove these runtimes.
You could try flatpak uninstall --unused
.
That helped. I am down to 6 files
Use flatpak list
to show which ones are still left. You could always remove them manually.
I removed 3 through Pamac but they are still there.
Again, use flatpak list
to see which ones are actually there.
