Getting locked for 10 minutes after one failed try

Hey there!

I’ve a problem with the login. After one failed try the login is being locked
for 10 minutes and it tells me I did it wrong 3 times. I can reproduce this behavior.

What could be the cause of this behavior?

Thanks for your help,
felixoi

Use journalctl to see when and what failed with your login

I know what failed. It’s the wrong password.
The problem is that it locks the account for 10 minutes after 1 try and not after 3.

Re read my answer…
We can’t guess, you will have to look into your logs

Ok. Tried my best:

(fingerprint login is disabled for my account tho)

You can temporarily disable the lockout for 3 bad logins.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/security#Lock_out_user_after_three_failed_login_attempts

I don’t think your fingerprint login is disabled though.

At least it shows me it’s disabled:

Temporarily I could do this but I’m searching for a real longterm solution.

Sorry dude, i do my best as you give almost no information…

If you tell me what information you’d like to have, ill give it to you.
You asked for the logs and I tried my best to find the correct lines.
There is nothing else you asked for.

Hi felixoi, You are not the only one with this problem 1 2 3 and it pop’s up once in a while on the forum. There threads might give some solutions users have tried, some successful.

Do you have a fingerprint reader? If not, then you don’t need fprintd. It’s caused issues in the past with systems without a fingerprint reader.

I have but I don’t want to use it for manjaro.

Deinstalled fprintd now. Seems to work fine now.
