Games crashing a few seconds in/instantly

hello im running manjaro 6.1 kde, i have a gtx 1650ti, and i use the video-hybrid-intel-nvidia driver. i have installed cuda, although im not sure if it’s that causing my issues. but booting up a game results in an instant system freeze/crash. i also have linux61-nvidia installed to further aid. are there missing packages im needing to make my system work? or do i have the wrong things installed, if thats not enough info please comment.

Welcome to the forum!

What games are you having issues with? Are you using Steam?

Please post your system info as outlined here:

FYI, CUDA has nothing to do with games. The installation is also well over 1.5GB, so I would remove it if nothing requires it.

it is steam i am using, half life 2 is one of the games i am having issues with.

Half-Life 2 can be played on a wee Intel Atom netbook–I did it.

Please run Steam from the terminal with the following command. it will upload the output to 0x0.st and display the link after. Please post the link here.

steam-runtime | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

i know that, but other source/goldsrc games are being that way. i got the problem fixed for a minute like 4 hours ago, and then i accidentally screwed it all over. i removed cuda aswell.

Moderator edit: Fixed link

Sorry, I should have said, “Please run Steam from the terminal with the following command, start Half-Life 2, wait for it to crash, then exit Steam.”

Now the output should yield something useful.

FYI, I edited your link above so now it’s clickable. I know new users aren’t allowed to post links, just don’t put them in parenthesis–it can’t even be copied that way.

i cant do that. when the game crashes, the entire system crashes. i feel like its a driver issue more than anything.

i cannot get the output, because when i do it, a few minutes in the entire system crashes. unless its my drivers, which ive tried configuring multiple amount of times, are not working. i

I had a similar problem when I bought myself this one 2080 from Asus rankquality. com/en/asus-geforce-turbo-rtx-2080-ti/ you know, it was solved quite simply that the old drivers were not completely uninstalled, due to which the new ones could not be put. Maybe you also have some kind of error associated with it, just try uninstalling all your drivers, then put a new one, maybe it will help you
