Hi peeps! When I start my laptop running KDE Plasma, the keyboard layout is in Esperanto
for some reason. I have tried to fix it in settings but the esperanto keyboard isn´t even in my layouts.
Its quite annoyning because I have to use some weird alt keys to type otherwise normal letters.
Hello,
Have you tried the forum search? Is this helpful?
Execute:
sudo nano --backup /usr/share/sddm/scripts/Xsetup
You will see:
#!/bin/sh
# Xsetup - run as root before the login dialog appears
Add this to the end:
setxkbmap "il,uk"
Restart X (or reboot if you don’t know how to do that) and you will have an and keyboard switcher in the lower left corner of your login screen
That’s because you can:
just hit Ctrl+Alt+F2 to go to a second TTY,
log in there
type:
startx
Presto: Second user session and you can…
I’ve just moved over to manjaro from kubuntu after 15 years… There’s been one major stumbling stone and it’s doing my head in: I’m using an Apple Keyboard with a German layout. When using KDE-Plasma apps, such as Kwrite, or some other apps like Libreoffice everything works perfectly well. All the regional settings in KDE are correct. But in Firefox / Thunderbird or most of the other apps, the keyboard layout changes to a standard US layout! I’ve checked all the respective configuration files (/e…
Yep have tried those, sadly still in the wrong keyboard settings
The system keyboard are defined in two confiugration files on for vconsole/tty and one for X11.
/etc/vconsole.conf
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/00-keyboard.conf
Plasma may complement this with it’s own settings - usually found in .~/config
Editing those did the trick! Thanks a lot
