Thanks for the update, really looking forward to getting my hands on this, with how y’all are trying to fine tune everything.

The release got postponed into Q3. There is no exact date determined yet …

I’m fine with that, it seems more set in stone now with the hardware being final now. I do have a question, is the price still the same?

Thanks for the update, bad news is much better than no news at all.

Any word on the approximate price of the 32GB models. Specifically the model based around the 7840u processor.

The RAM would have already been ordered long ago at this stage to have stock ready to ship in Q3, so the approximate price is known by somebody.

Oh wow, the price went down, I definitely didn’t expect that. But it is much welcomed

I like the look of the new LB/RB buttons, I especially like the look of them on the black Neo

I would be interested to know if the trackpads are clickable or just support gestures.

The touchpads only support touch and gestures. There is no physical click as the Zotac ZONE or the Steamdeck has.

Wow, mass production may start by the end of this month!? I like the sound of that.

I do have a question, I know you have probably given out Neos to influencers, were any given to english youtubers like The Phawx, ETA Prime, etc?

I very much appreciate the updated timeline being shared. I can check back in a few weeks now instead of every few days!

I’m curious about the buttons seemingly changing colour in the latest image though. The track pad looks very different too. Is that a protective cover over it?

I did a comparison between the Orange Pi Neo and the Steam Deck OLED, which I thought might be of interest others. The Orange Pi Neo should substantially outmuscle the Steam Deck OLED in almost all areas. The Steam deck OLED does have a physically larger display with a higher dynamic range (nits), but it is a much lower resolution (1.024 vs 2.304 million pixels) and it has a lower refresh rate (90 vs 120 Hz).

With the current publicly available information, some things about the Neo are unknown. Does the dual channel memory of the Neo have a 64-bit channel width ? What is the weight/mass of the Neo ?

Hi @philm, I was wondering, if I would like to have a custom 64GB RAM setup and I would be willing to pay the extra for it (RAM upgrade + special hardware assembly), do you believe that would be an option?

I’m asking because I would like to use this bad boy not just as a gaming console but also as my work PC but I need the 64GB RAM given the workloads I usually do.

If so, I’m looking to buy between 2 and 4 of them

Was hoping to hear word back about this device by now. Will have to go with the Flip 1S DS before the funding ends. A shame, this device was nearly ideal.

I will update this thread as soon as I get news from the manufacturer …

Thanks for updating the thread.

Other than this thread what other social media channels are available for updates from Manjaro and Orange Pi regarding the Neo.

I’m going to guess Facebook (which I don’t use) and possibly twitter/X. But are there others ?

Currently there are no updates on the Neo. As soon as I have some I will share them here. We also have an X account and Facebook but didn’t share much there.

Just saying:
still interested

There is no new update on the OrangePi Neo. On a side-note, we managed to fix a bug in the kernel, which prevented firmware updates for the built-in game-controller.

Also there were less than 20 new internal sample devices manufactured to fix some hardware related issues and further improve the device design, before mass-production can happen.
