Decrease brightness button decreases to minimum brightness level, on first use on session

When entering session and tapping the key “decrease brightness”, it decreases the brightness to the minimum level and then I must adjust it upwards. It only happens at first time on session using this button; after, not.
I don’t know if this is a Gnome’s or Manjaro’s issue, so I’m asking here because I didn’t find out where to report it for Gnome.

May this help? [SOLVED] Failed to start Load/Save Screen Backlight Brightness / Laptop Issues / Arch Linux Forums

If I would have to find a solution for this problem I would look up the hardware on https://linux-hardware.org/ to see if there where some hints to this issue and lookup the type of hardware I have on the arch wiki for clues.

And this is the result of the probe you mentioned: HW probe of Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro 14ACN6... #37106dbfa3

Not sure if it will work but changing to a newer kernel do anything to the buttons functionality?

Never had to fiddle with this, maybe another user can shine some light on this. The first time the key is pressed seems to set a variable to the lowest value, maybe because there was nothing set? Maybe try and set this value at startup with a script?

This thread points to some good reading on brightness in relation to your hardware. this might give some insight how brightness works and what options there are.

I’m out of options, interesting problem, the small ones are the most irritating :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Now reading those links, there’s always an error referring Backlight at system startup.
I’ll try changing the kernel and come back with feedback on that.

The error says:

[FAILED] Failed to start Load/Save ·ness of backlight:acpi_video0.
[FAILED] Failed to start Load/Save Screen Backlight Brightness of backlight:amdgpu_b10.

It’s very probable that this has something to see. I’m posting more info about these errors in first post.

Yeah, those small, tricky problems!

Pasting the error in a search engine, this could be a possible solution if you have not found it yet.

I tried both editing the GRUB (doing that makes backlight work much worse) and running the systemd command for amdgpu_b10, but with no succes
