Can't launch any games on Steam

Hello,
As said in the title, I cannot launch any games.
I am using ProtonGE 9.7 and have Nvidia’s proprietary drivers.
Yes, I am using prime-run %command% as launch options.
I tried everything, even launching steam with prime-run, hoping it could resolve the issue, but it is not.
I hope we will find a solution ASAP.
Thanks,

Hi @allowexe, and welcome!

In order for us, or anyone for that matter, to be able to provide assistance, more information is necessary. To that end, please see:

Please also note and heed: Forum Rules - Manjaro

Hope you manage!

:bangbang: Tip: :bangbang:

To provide terminal output, copy the text you wish to share, and paste it here, surrounded by three (3) backticks, a.k.a grave accents. Like this:

```
pasted text
```

Or three (3) tilde signs, like this:

~~~
pasted text
~~~

This will just cause it to be rendered like this:

Portaest sed
elementum
cursus nisl nisi
hendrerit ac quis
sit
adipiscing
tortor sit leo commodo.

Instead of like this:

Portaest sed elementum cursus nisl nisi hendrerit ac quis sit adipiscing tortor sit leo commodo.

Alternatively, paste the text you wish to format as terminal output, select all pasted text, and click the </> button on the taskbar. This will indent the whole pasted section with one TAB, causing it to render the same way as described above.

Thereby improving legibility and making it much easier for those trying to be of assistance.

:bangbang::bangbang: Additionally

If your language isn’t English, please prepend any and all terminal commands with LC_ALL=C. For example:

LC_ALL=C bluetoothctl

This will just cause the terminal output to be in English, making it easier to understand and debug.

Please edit your post accordingly.

Well, everything looks ok. Semi. I’m not sure about hybrid graphics, really. But please provide the output of:

and

thanks for trying to help me,
here’s the outputs:

Make sure the mesa-utils package is installed. If not, install it:

pamac install mesa-utils

…and provide the output for:

prime-run glxgears -info | head -n 5

Please.

mesa-utils is installed, so no worries

And prime-run glxgear does work well with the gears spinning at 60fps roughly

However, I think there is somethig wrong

[allow@allow-gf638rd ~]$ prime-run -info | head -n 5
/usr/bin/prime-run: line 2: -info: command not found

Indeed. How did you install the drivers?

You should have used mhwd on the commandd line, or Manjaro’s GUI app. But let’s try reinstalling them:

sudo mhwd --force --install pci video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-prime

If that goes without error, try to run glxgears again:

prime-run glxgears -info | head -n 5

Okay.
I have an exam at 12 so I’m heading there but when I’ll come back I’ll do it asap.
Thanks

1 Like

Anyway, I’m back.
Yes, I did install them using mhwd, but I’m reinstalling them now.
I don’t think there is any issue as I got: > Successfully installed video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-prime

For glxgears, no issues as well

[allow@allow-gf638rd ~]$ prime-run glxgears -info | head -n 5
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
GL_RENDERER   = NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with Max-Q Design/PCIe/SSE2
GL_VERSION    = 4.6.0 NVIDIA 550.78
GL_VENDOR     = NVIDIA Corporation

Then it would seem all is well again.

I wish you were right… But no.
Tried again with Cuphead or other games ProtonDB validated, and they will not launch sadly

OK, from the terminal, please run:

prime-run steam

And provide any output here.

Done !

And do games work? Does STEAM start up?

Steam starts up, but the game don’t. That’s what I do not understand x)

As a last resort, I think I will try a clean install of Manjaro since it’s already a new one (was on Endeavour before).

Did it ever work before?

There is a lot of:
Assertion Failed: Failed to write file after download

which could point to how and where you installed the games :man_shrugging:

If you start steam with the above command, the

prime-run steam

…the games shouldn’t be started with prime-run

Did it ever work before?

On Endeavour yes, but I wanted to try and switch to Manjaro

which could point to how and where you installed the games :man_shrugging:

Installed them on my second SSD, I’m trying to mount it automatically using fstab, but I guess this is the issue.

Anyway. I’ll make a clean install and will come back right after

Yes, and I did change that. Nothing changed.

Brb after a clean install
