Cannot connect to Wired connection. Only wireless

Hey guys. I’m very new to Manjaro. Spent a couple months on Pop OS before I decide to try out an Arch based system instead.
My eithernet worked perfectly fine over on Pop, so I know my hardware is supported.
My wireless works fine btw, but pretty useless with VPN as it keeps disconnecting for whatever reason.
The “ip link show” command says it’s a Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Killer E3000 2.5GbE Controller (rev 06)
I’ve tried a few things, such as “ip link set enp110s0 up”. And enp110s0 being the name of my wired connection according to command “nmcli connection show”.
I have no idea what the issue can be. Maybe it’s driver related. And if that’s the case, how do I find and install this driver?
Btw. “Wired connection” is not listed in the Networks applet. Only wireless connections.
Also. The fact that my wireless works fine leads me to believe that this is driver related.
Please help. Thank you.

Please read and post a full inxi output. Also please tell us which VPN you are using if it is a commercial VPN. Are you dual-booting Windows?

The VPN has nothing to do with the issue at hand I think. Although, it’s ExpressVPN. So I’m using their Arch app provided on their website. I’ve never connected VPN through wireless internet before, so I’m sure it’s just not stable on a wireless connection.
Anyway, I am not dual booting. And as far as the other PC specs, I provided those when I signed up to the forum.

this is what we can see of those specs

Branch: Stable
Desktop Environment: KDE
CPU: GenuineIntel Model: 6.165.5 "Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10900K CPU @ 3.70GHz
GPU: Nvidia 3080
GPU Driver: Nvidia-470
Kernel: 5.15.12-1-MANJARO

and it’s not enough
That is why @jrichard326 asked you to do what he asked you do.

@Nachlese No need to be rude. Attitude like that is what gives the Linux community a bad rep.
And FYI, I provided all the info he asked about in my reply to him.
What other information should I provide?

Kernel 5.15 is at 5.15.16. Please update your system if you have not already.

@jrichard326 Thanks, but I went to the Kernels settings and it says that 5.16 is a release candidate. So it says Experimental. What does that mean in terms of stability? How alpha or beta is “rc”?

It was not my intention to be perceived as such.
Just stated facts.
… inxi …

Be well!

@Nachlese Well. Okay then. Water under the bridge.
So, what info did I forget to post?

@jrichard326 Btw. I don’t a newer kernel is gonna help me here. As I said earlier, ethernet worked fine on Pop OS which uses a much older kernel.

Manjaro is a curated rolling release. If not updated regularly, it will break sooner than later. Since you have not posted an inxi output, I am going by your profile information which indicates Kernel 5.15.12 which is not updated on the stable branch as 5.15 is currently at 5.15.16-1. System updates are far more than just the kernel.

The 5.16.2-1 is available on Stable branch as well. It is pretty unusual for Ethernet not to work. Did it work in the Live environment? Yesterday there was a Linux Firmware update here on Unstable, so that will be coming down to Stable at some point soon.

The following may be of some help:

https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php/Manjaro_Kernels

Thanks @jrichard326 . I just upgrade the kernel as well as the entire system.
Still no eithernet though.

Oh, and I did not test eithernet in live mode because I didn’t have it plugged in, so I connected to Wifi prior to installing the system.

This still does not provide information about your network. Please read the “How to Provide Good Information” link in my first response and post a full inxi output ( whether you think it is necessary or not) as specified in the link. I am not a Network expert, but surely somebody here is, and it is doubtful you will get help without providing information.

Also, please read:

Sorry. I thought I provided enough info in the first post.

@jrichard326 huh?

from the first few lines of the contents of the (twice) provided link
(partly paraphrased):

export LANG=C
(to make sure the output is not in your native language)

always, always provide the output of:

inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --width

even if you think it’s not relevant.

Also try to care about formatting the output to make it more readable.

@Nachlese Well. I’m kinda new to this. Wasn’t sure what info to provide.
But here you go. Here’s the output:

mod note : formatted text for you

This might sound funny, but did you check that the Ethernet cable is fully plugged in and that the router/switch led is on to signal that there is connectivity on the hardware layer?

@seb Of course. :grinning:
