Bluetooth and audio is not working on i3

Hello, everyone. I recently switched from Manjaro KDE to i3, and I’m facing issues with my Bluetooth and audio. I’ve been trying to resolve the problem for the past two days, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

this is my inxi output

Hi @ThatDumbDude,

I doubt your nick is accurate, but in order for us, or anyone for that matter, to be able to provide assistance, more information is necessary. To that end, please see:

Please also note and heed: Forum Rules - Manjaro

Hope you manage!

In case your nickname is accurate and you’ve forgotten or didn’t know for whichever reason, here are some tips for you:

:bangbang: Tip: :bangbang:

To provide terminal output, copy the text you wish to share, and paste it here, surrounded by three (3) backticks, a.k.a grave accents. Like this:

```
pasted text
```

Or three (3) tilde signs, like this:

~~~
pasted text
~~~

This will just cause it to be rendered like this:

Portaest sed
elementum
cursus nisl nisi
hendrerit ac quis
sit
adipiscing
tortor sit leo commodo.

Instead of like this:

Portaest sed elementum cursus nisl nisi hendrerit ac quis sit adipiscing tortor sit leo commodo.

Alternatively, paste the text you wish to format as terminal output, select all pasted text, and click the </> button on the taskbar. This will indent the whole pasted section with one TAB, causing it to render the same way as described above.

Thereby improving legibility and making it much easier for those trying to be of assistance.

:bangbang::bangbang: Additionally

If your language isn’t English, please prepend any and all terminal commands with LC_ALL=C. For example:

LC_ALL=C bluetoothctl

This will just cause the terminal output to be in English, making it easier to understand and debug.

Please edit your post accordingly.

Edit:

(Reply on your changes)

That might explain it…

According to this page:

The device is supported by kernel versions 6.1 and newer according to the LKDDb

So I don’t understand why it’s not there…

In any case, try a newer kernel, perhaps 6.6, the latest LTS and see if that makes a difference.

Your current kernel is anyway EOL, and has been since 28 November 2023 which means you’ve been a naughty one who didn’t keep their system up-to-date. So you should do that in any case.

Hope this helps!

upgraded to 6.6.8 and not working
the other problem with the sound is , in is always muted and when i increase the volume using pavucontrol it goes down to 37% then to zero . and it is really annoying.
man KDE was much easier :sweat_smile:

Makes me doubly glad I use KDE…

Edit:

Please post the output of:

rfkill

Disable decibel scaling of audio levels so that PulseAudio uses percentage values for audio levels

sudo sed -i 's/load-module module-udev-detect/load module module-udev-detect ignore_dB=1/g' /etc/pulse/default.pa

wiki.archlinux.org/PulseAudio – No sound below a volume cutoff or Clipping on a particular output device
If sound does not play when PulseAudio’s volume is set below a certain level, or if you hear clipping on output even at low volume (including bluetooth devices), try setting ignore_dB=1 in /etc/pulse/default.pa

Then it all looks good according to me, and
