@Darksky Thanks for editing the ARM Unstable Update 2025.04.04 Topic

I build new OS images (x86 & ARM) for several reasons :
_ To test the dedicated tool, if something go wrong during the process it is necessary for the community to report the issue to the devs

Build Images Bug Report, Thanks To the Devs to solved them :-)

ARM
[ARM Unstable Update] 2025-03-01 - Qt6, Thunderbird, Vlc, Fastfetch, Sdl2, Sdl3, Xz - #11 by nl.smart

Issue during build image process after manjaro-arm-tools update

x86
Build KDE Iso Failed => kpmcore5 and kpmcore are in conflict

Build Iso issue with kgamma5

Build iso issue to build image

And so on…

_ I don’t rebuild images after each update but often, if a device encounter an issue it is possible to install a fresh build OS.
_ I noted in the past some improvement between an update and a fresh OS install.
_ The Manjaro build images tools are awesome, you build your own OS ( nothing compared to the LFS => Linux From Scratch :-) what an advantage for the Manjaro distro, available for x86 && ARM

I agree with the idea of facilitating the arrival of new users with a specific discussion thread, but for the moment, the images on the official manjaro website are outdated.

The GitHub - manjaro-arm/rpi4-images images are no longer valid either.

We should talk about the manjaro-arm / applications / manjaro-arm-installer · GitLab method.

For the manjaro arm tools method, for the moment you need to replace rootfs image (@spikerguy works on it?)

wget -O /var/lib/manjaro-arm-tools/img/Manjaro-ARM-aarch64-latest.tar.gz https://github.com/manjaro-arm/rootfs/releases/download/20241216/Manjaro-ARM-aarch64-latest.tar.gz

And then stop using the -n option.
For raspberry you should rename rename all rpi4 instances to rpi and/or specify that it’s for all rpi4/5…like in

    -d <device> Targeted device; default is rpi4, options are am6-plus, clockworkpi-a06, edgev, g1-tpc, generic, generic-efi, gsking-x, gt1-ultimate, gtking-pro, halium-9, itx-rk3588j, jetson-nano, m5, nanopc-t4, nanopi-neo-plus2, oc2, oc4, ohc4, om1, on2, on2-plus, on2l, opi-800, opi-zero3, opi3-lts, opi3b, opi4-lts, opi5, opi5-plus, pbpro, pbpro-bsp, pine-h64, pine64, pine64-lts, pinebook, pinenote, pinephone, pinephonepro, pinetab, pinetab2, quartz64-a, quartz64-b, radxa-zero, radxa-zero2, roc-cc, rock3a, rock64, rockpi4b, rockpi4c, rockpro64, rpi4, rpi4-cutiepi, soquartz-cm4, station-m2, station-m3, station-p2, stationp1, vim1, vim2, vim3, vim3l

And the missing 7zip makes the gnome image unbuildable for a new user.
Manjaro is much better than pios, we just need to make it easier for new users to arrive.

Auto build is working now.
Hopefully this month we will have updated images on website as well as unstable-builds

This is resolved.

Resolved.

Done.

We need testers on unstable and testing branch so we can push to stable branches. I do not get much time anymore so I can push updates but our community testers have to share feedback from unstable and testing branch.

Lets work this out together.

This is good news.
@Darksky
Wouldn’t it be time for a spring clean to finally rename all rpi4 or pi4 instances to rpi with an explanatory text. This would prevent people from stopping there thinking there’s no image for pi5. Not to mention that one day a pi6 will come out…
Edit I’ve just successfully tested the new functions.sh script.

@Darksky @spikerguy

Thanks a lot for the last update, thanks a lot to the users report, success for the reported update devices :-)

I did a build ARM image test, the Linux kernel linux-6.14.1-2-aarch64 is now available by default for the Odroid N2, C4 and M1 devices but not for the Odroid C2 device, the Odroid C2 ARM build profile device is set with the kernel linux-odroid-6.4.3-1-aarch64

Before the build ARM images test I did a sudo getarmprofiles -f

@Lila-Kuh is certainly able to provide you more info to set the Odroid C2 ARM build profile.

The current Odroid C2 build ARM profile is the following

# Kernel and bootloader stuff
linux-api-headers #needed for GUI for some reason
linux-odroid
uboot-odroid-c2-mainline
plymouth
plymouth-theme-manjaro

# Video driver
xf86-video-fbdev

# Other device specific packages
fbset
amlogic
generic-post-install
oc2-post-install

Thanks in advance for your answer.

is there any ffmpeg or mpv packages for Amlogic device with vpu hardware acceleration?

Yesterday, I successfully updated the C2.
I just had to uninstall the linux-odroid package and install the linux package.
It started successfully via tty/ssh.
DE (xfce/lightdm) hasn’t been tested yet, but I haven’t seen any errors in the log.

Thanks for your technical answer, I apply your settings, it works to build an ARM image for the Odroid c2 device with the following build profile

# Kernel and bootloader stuff
linux-headers #needed for GUI for some reason
linux
uboot-odroid-c2-mainline
plymouth
plymouth-theme-manjaro

# Video driver
xf86-video-fbdev

# Other device specific packages

Hi,

In the past you created a dedicated post on the Odroid forum for the Odroid m1 device, are you ok to create a dedicated post for the Odroid c2 device on the Odroid forum ?

Edit : Today I updated the dedicated MAnjaro ARM Odroid n2, m1 and c4 Manjaro ARM posts on the Odroid forum.

The Manjaro ARM team keep up to date the device, Archlinux ARM is not a dead duck.

You are welcome to join the forum and give your feedback.
