Respect is a two-way street;
and that’s something many here often seem to disregard.
If I understand the general commentary against MDD in this and the MDD QA thread, which incidentally has now been reopened (with a Poll) for those wishing to share their concerns; the presumption seems to be that personal information will be included.
As far as I can see, that’s simply not true.
Even so, without any personally identifiable information in the equation, the main point is whether to opt-in or opt-out – either way (as I crudely illustrated in MDD Opti-in vs Opt-out) the User has a choice whether to allow it, or not.
It seems (to me) that those with concerns mainly wish to be assured that this choice will be given in an obvious fashion, and not via some obscure command-line option; and this is a fair request.
I fail to see how so much complexity has evolved from this simple need for assurance; which, I understand, has already been given.
