I’m posting again with a persistent problem on my wi-fi usage on Manjaro XFCE. My desktop computer is a HP Omnidesk M020 running a Realtek RTL8852BE-VT PCIe 802.11ax. I previously posted about this in this topic, but the problem surfaced again after a while and it has gotten increasingly worse in the past days.
Basically, when using the wi-fi with a 5g wi-fi network, the computer will suddenly completely disconnect from the wi-fi network and refuse any further connections to any wi-fi networks. Rebooting the network manager and/or WPA supplicant services yields no results and only a full reboot of the machine solves the problem. Ethernet, USB and Bluetooth can still supply wi-fi when the crash occurs, but it is a hassle to have to connect my cellphone to the computer and to lose any progress from my work.
This issue seems to occur randomly, but it is mostly triggered when using the wi-fi network for a prolonged duration of time with a lot of data incoming and outgoing (zoom meetings, remote connections, etc…) or when setting the machine to sleep for a couple hours. It also seems to occur both with the default network adapters provided and when the rtw89-dkms-git AUR package is installed, but with more crashes occurring on the former. Currently, rtw89-dkms-git is not installed.
