What exactly is this mesa-git in extra repo now? Before when Manjaro dropped hardware support for various video codecs, I swapped mesa and lib32-mesa with mesa-git + lib32-mesa-git from AUR and got the hardware support back, but now suspiciously there have been sneaked in “manjaro versions” of those git packages (at least by name)… that doesn’t even seem to be “git” packages, but already compiled binaries. Do they have at least hardware decoding and encoding for h264 and h265 etc included or not? They seem to have, but I’m a bit unsure which version I have currently installed – either the extra repo or AUR… and/or has Manjaro changed it stance on hw acceleration in mesa and put the codecs back in for good?

Could you clarify? Packages doesn’t show any package.

It was an internal test on unstable branch.

You will find it in official stable branch, just search for:

[j@p16s ~]$ pacman -Ss mesa-git
extra/mesa-git 23.3.0_devel.177307.ca162bc82d5.d41d8cd-1
an open-source implementation of the OpenGL specification, git version
multilib/lib32-mesa-git 23.3.0_devel.177307.ca162bc82d5.d41d8cd-1
an open-source implementation of the OpenGL specification, git version
[j@p16s ~]$

I assume it is the mesa-780 replacement, What a mess, also the last stable release for mesa-nonfree stable branch was two weeks ago, bringing noobs in trouble. Disparaging statements about stable branch lead to the conclusion that this will remain the case.
