Welcome and introduce yourself - 2025

Sup! I’m Alex.

I think Manjaro is a decent distro and must be supported with a lot of love. It doesn’t matter the past, mistakes or accusations, but the future you’re edifying. Please, devs, do not surrender in developing this beautiful distro, Steam was a company that was hated in its beginnings and now is very loved. Likewise, Manjaro has a future!

The more people tells you guys, that is impossible and that can’t be done, the more you should be absolutely determined to prove them wrong. Treat the word “impossible” as nothing more than motivation.

So, don’t surrender. It’s an amazing distro for many things.

Hi,
I used and sometimes use distros like SuSE, Gentoo, Debian and RasbianOS.
I am no programmer, but know how to use vim and the command line.

Thank you, community, for all the things you already discussed. You helped me very much during my first days with manjaro.

Hello
Forum rules say short and polite.

I think I managed the polite part, but short, my apologies in advance.

First installed Red Hat from a CD-ROM that came with a very thick book.
Have used others since such as MSX, but mostly MS starting with DOS 2. When floppy disk were true to their name.

For the same reason as many, I will no longer be using MS as a main OS by the end of this year. It will instead reside inside a VM, like I’ve had the other way around with some flavor of Linux for a while now. Manjaro was the first I started this with. But then went for Debian based as there were more questions being asked and answered for Ubuntu.

I think I’ve tried something from every main base, at least in a VM.

I did have another ARCH based distro installed before this. But could not get the GPU passthrough to work. I haven’t gotten it to work on Manjaro yet either, but I have passed the important hurdle of the right driver being in use and the card actually visible in the guest’s device manager. After spending a couple of days looking for a solution I’ve signed up to ask for help (I’ll write a post in the appropriate category) Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome, @TooOldForDeInterwebz ! :vulcan_salute:

Not only is your post polite, it is well-formatted and easy to read (and not exactly “excessively long”, either, so certainly no apologies needed). :smile_cat:

Hi everyone, I’m cheero from Italy. Started using Manjaro since a friend suggested it to me and I’ve been having a blast since I replaced Windows with it on my desktop some months ago. Currently planning to install it on my laptop as well very soon. I really like how comfortable and stable this OS is. Looking forward to learn more

Hi everyone!
I’m Eromnoj from France.

Linux user for 20 years now, tried a lot of distros (Mandrake, Gentoo, Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch, some less popular…) - I had my time when I was just installing new ones and try them out for a few weeks.

I liked Arch, but since i’m not so keen to have fun in the installation processes that I was before, I chose Manjaro for my laptop. Using it for more than a year now, everything works as I expect it to work, even gaming.

The forum was very helpful for me at certain times, so I decided to subscribe, first to thank the community (the users who had the same difficulty I had and asked for help , and the users who answered  ), and to try to be a little helpful in return.

See you !

Hi, I’m Gene.

I’ve used Linux since about 13-14, which means for about 45% of my life I’ve been a Linux user. I started with Ubuntu (what an original /jk), then switched to Mint, which I used the longest. Several weeks ago I tried to switch to Arch (genius) & came to a conclusion that I will not get involved with it seriously when my only pc (a laptop) relies on it &, as a provisional, installed Fedora.

About a day or so later I found out about Manjaro & here I am, switching to it.

Cheers!

Isn’t that the meaning of “Manjaro”?

No, “Manjaro” means “Arch without having to update every 10 minutes.” :stuck_out_tongue:

For me it was usually only 8 minutes …

Hello everyone!

I am new to manjaro since I have been off put by the bad rep it has but I decided to try it anyway as its release model fits perfect for what im looking for, Hoping to stickl around for awhile.

I’m unaware of any justified bad rep. Nonetheless, welcome!

If you’ve used Arch previously, then you’ll likely find Manjaro to be a welcome and familiar experience. Cheers.

There was something several years ago with an outdated certificate on repository servers. But apart from that nothing.

Unfortunately that’s still hanging over Manjaro.
You will not regret using it.

Hi all,

I’ve used Manjaro since jan 2023, but not participated in the forum before now.
I’ve been donating a small amount to the Manjaro team since the month after I installed in when I settled with this distro. Really like it

Been using Linux on and off for about 20 years.

Been using Ubuntu Server on my home server for about 15 years or so (haven’t kept count).

I’ve been an IT consultant for 4 years in a small team, but left my position recently. Looking for some other IT work currently.

It’s nice to meet your all, and I look forward to the discussion :+1:

Hello everyone. I recently registered on the forum, but I’ve been using Manjaro for over 7 years. Before that, I used Linux Mint for a few years, but I have absolutely no regrets about switching. Manjaro FTW!

Hi! It’s my second time using Manjaro Kde. I’ve been using it since April and so far everything is great. Years ago I tried it but had a specific issue and, influenced by comments in internet, changed to another distro without much investigation. I’m happy so far!
