I have used Linux Mint cinnamon since 3 years. I wanted to try a rolling release. I was very happy with Mint, 0 problems. But i need a change and i want try Manjaro

When we started using Arch at our work I was a bit taken aback. Here I was with many decades of various systems admin skills and… now what. It took me about three weeks to decide that Manjaro was going to be my desktop environment. I also went back to Xfce, not because my laptop cannot handle the most complex desktop environments, I wanted something light and quick. Right now running Qonos after I got enough experience with the previous versions. I am no longer dual booting, just flipped the switch to 21.2rc. Personal: I am almost 60, I enjoy tinkering and teaching. I reside most of the time in AWS, or on premise VMware and NetApp. Yeah, I am some kind of wunderkind at least that’s what my management team thinks

A pretty long time Ubuntu(Mint) user. I thought I’d make an account here on the forums since I installed Manjaro yesterday. I’m guessing I’m on Stable? I don’t know, I’m new to Arch. That’s why I installed Manjaro as my introduction to Arch, so I hopefully have a somewhat stable experience,

You can check with:
$ pacman-mirrors -G
This is not Arch but Manjaro 
They are similar in many aspects but also different.

Trying to use Linux after years with Microsoft.
Tried Mint but I the research says Majaro has better hardware support.
don’t know what stable means in this case so I want to be stable.
I use to repair Mini computers back in the 80’s so I have a little Unix experience.

Hi. I have used Manjaro on and off for a couple of years. Thought I would finally join in with my first post. I have also used/use MX Linux, Mint, Zorin, Arch, EndeavourOS, and a few others. Hello all!
I’m a little shy, but hiiii.
I first started Linux about 10 months ago. Before then, my laptop setup was NOT ideal for what I wanted to do with my computer. Got enlightened by the Godot Discord about Linux, and after some time and consideration, I decided to hop on the train starting with Mint. I haven’t looked back to Windows since; it’s been a great experience so far. I’ve learned a lot, and it’s been liberating to have the tools needed to pursue creative endeavors 
. I switched to Manjaro KDE about a month ago because 1) I sinned by using live persistence when I put Mint on my machine 
2) I like up-to-date software 3) KDE really caught my eye 
… I went into more comedic detail on my About Me if anyone wants to read a book on my linux journey

Greetings everyone. I’ve recently decided to invest totally in using a GNU/Linux OS for my everyday use. I come from Windows environments, but became fed up with the direction they were moving. After playing around with doing custom Arch installs, I decided on Manjaro as the distro to use for my everyday use and work. I’ve really enjoyed the experience so far. Using my PC is now a fun experience again. I anticipate needing to utilize the cumulative knowledge of this community quite a bit, as I become more familiar with Linux systems and both Arch/Manjaro. Hopefully someday I’ll reach the point where I can do the same for new users like myself.

Exploring alternatives to Windows.
Retired used to work repairing mini computers in the 80’s and semiconductor test
equipment till 2006 . So some unix command and a lot of Dos experience, but not a
software guy by profession. Interest include Science , Windsurfing and Sup surfing.
I am kind of frustrated because I have tried both Gnome and KDE plasma on a Windows
host system using Oracle Vbox and they produce a blue screen of death after running
for about 24 hours. Mint is working so far. I wonder if it’s a microsoft plot.
One of the most frustrating things I am finding is the lack of hardware support for
Hi Res Screen 2k by 4k , Finger Print Reader , and Ergo wireless mouse.
Maybe running this stuff in Vbox wasn’t such a good idea. Looks like I need
a PC that I can trash if things go wrong.

I’m a mechanical engineer by trade and tech tinkerer by hobby. I got into Manjaro when our Little Green Computer, an early Logitech Music Server reseller, failed. I was able to wipe the LGC and start over by installing Manjaro, and Logitech Music Server (LMS) from the Arch. I’ve been very happy with my initial setup. Now I’m learning how to make it a bit more sophisticated.

I have been interested in Linux from the very beginning, working with UNIX systems then. Since the millennium I work as a freelancer building and programming embedded Linux systems. Since then I am using Linux as my primary OS, mostly Debian and Ubuntu.
When I got my Dell Precision 5750 Laptop early this year I installed Manjaro on it because it needed very recent Kernel and PulseAudio versions. Recently I switched my main desktop machine to a new AMD Ryzen one and installed Manjaro on it, too. All the trouble with outdated packages gone!
One thing I would really enjoy would be to meet people with the same Laptop or the mostly similar XPS 17 9700 here in order to share experiences and optimizations.

I discover Linux with a CD of Ubuntu, it was Warty Warthog it seems, in the early 2000s. I spend months to install the drivers for my 56K modem, and I could never get it to work!!!
It’s the Ubuntu forum that will fuel my passion for linux, and I will try many different distributions. At the moment I’m on Manjaro, but it’s very recent ! And habits must be changed!
Next to that, a bit of RaspberryPi, Arduino, and Bitcoin.
I also climb, I live in the mountains, at the foot of Mont-Blanc.
I just went back to school, I’m 40 years old and never had a degree. This is a challenge for me !

I am fairly new to Linux, and just today installed Manjaro as a dual boot. I have been using Kubuntu for about two months, and was feeling pretty good about progress. But today, with Manjaro I feel like I have gone back to ground zero?
So far, what I see I like better that Kubuntu but I am having some issues. I have searched a couple of these issues and cannot locate answers to my questions. I will post them separately.
I am a Scuba instructor and enjoy being underwater!

hey everyone.
i am a 12th grader from india and i came across linux when i used a very different type of “command prompt” (which i call a terminal now) in my gcloud server while working on my first flask project. the server was running debian at the moment. then i tried running many different distros in vb while still using win 10 as my main. i had to reset win 10 too a lot of times due to administrative issues and wsl messing up but i was fine with that. then i upgraded to win 11 and it was a mess. win 11 tries copy both kde and macos but it fails to do so.
before switching to linux i did spent a lot of time finding the perfect distro but believe me a perfect distro doesn’t exist. i like the kiss philosophy of arch and manjaro is good option if you don’t want to spend all your time messing up with the system. also manjaro forums are the best one out there.
